• I feel it in my veins, roiling and scalding,
Like boiling hot water poured in my body.

I gasp in pain, crying for help,
Even though the one who did this to me is the only who can save me.

Amazing,I think, that one who was thought invincible would be
Ended like this, reduced to twisting on the ground....

Footsteps pound on the floor, like my head, which feels like a drum.
My enemy looks down at me with contempt.
He has no words to say. Everything is in his eyes, soundlessly acusing.

A sudden wave of anger rolls thourgh me,
And summoning my last vestiges of strength,
I lift up my knife and pierce him thourgh the heart.

    He is not expecting it.
His lifeblood pumps onto the floor.
A choice occurs to me. I could die nobly leaving the world to its fate,
Or I could become what I despise.
Looking at him with that astonished look on his face,
    I...I lean down to drink.

His vampiric blood flows thourgh me,giving me strength,
Expelling the poison, replacing it with the vampire disease.
I stand up feeling powerful and terrible at the same time.

For now I am what I have thought that only the worst in humans become..
    A vampire.
That which I have hunted and despaired over,
And now I am never to feel the sunlight play on my face,
Only a pale imitation of it, the moon.

    There is nothing for it.
Tears shall have to fall later,
Because business left unfinshed is dangerous.
I lope off into the dark, a creature of the sun no more.
    I am the night.
