Surely death would welcome those
With shaking hands and tattered clothes
Without the suffering of disease in fate
Life’s come too far to go too late
And those who begged
Not for money with greed
But mouths not focused
On theirs to feed
And as we sigh
With no generous regret
We say a prayer
In a wasted breath
Though we don’t fear for death unless
There’s no more need for so much stress
As we rely on hearts unkind or not
To forgive our sins without a second thought
