The ashes fell like snow beneath my feet
There were embers everywhere; I felt no heat
I knew the sky would soon fall far apart
The shards would fly and pierce inside my heart
But it never did, for I had known something false
Frozen ice crept up around my feet
The tempo of my heart slowed down a beat
Blindness, like a never-ending night
Thus ended my dependence on my sight
And then when isolation wore away
I thawed myself and lived another day
The warmth outside was overwhelming first
But quenched was my fatal, chronic thirst
I never knew I had inside of me
