• laying staring at the stars,
alone in the desert out so far.
the stars shine bright on this moonless night.
the lake reflecting their crystalline light.

in this time i begin to wonder
    about the lives torn asunder,
    children left in silent homes
the parents gone, the streets to roam.

about all my friends that left this world,
throwing all our lives in a twirl.
maybe they are up there now.
    silently pleading, wondering how.

one day i know I'll join them too
then it will be left to you,
to lay awake on such a star filled night
wishing for them, awaiting death's bite.
