• Pain has been labeled,
    it's a dream killer,
    it's a crippler,
    it's a monster,
it's a dark cry out in the night that is never heard.

With your face pressed against your pillow,
the soft material catching sobbing tears,
    and while everyone is sleeping,
    you're weeping,
curled up so tightly to shut out anything that may enter.

    I...
    I...
    hoped.

That there was something that I could say,
    to wipe your slate clean,
    to take your pain,
    and tears away.

So I decided that I would always be there,
    shining shimmering lights,
    sunset sights,
    and all those seasons,
    and every chance I got,
    giving you many more reasons,
    to smile.

    Even if it looks strange,
    everywhere you go,
all be holding my arms out,
to catch you in case you fall,
And I'll make weird faces at you while your eating,
just so that you punch me in the arm,
    and laugh.

I'll show up on your doorstep,
    holding semi-cold pizza,
and asking if you want to share it,
We'll go to shops and pick out weird things,
    and I'll even wear it.

And even if you're still in pain,
I'm hoping that at least today,
    I'll ease your frown,
    and your smile will stay.
