Anchor side banishment,
a wanderer’s heart
grounded in the earth beneath settled sand
the salted air and damp ocean whispers.
furled hair combed by rays of wind
strand by strand slipping away like
the entanglements of time.
Her maidenhood, his boyhood
frayed, faded, slaved and sold:
the tender dreams of tender hands
long ago sold for bread and lye.
Bread to pretend contentment,
Lye to melt the fleshed filth and disgust
leaving sinew and bones bare and
lying denial and stained despair.
crushed into fine stones their souls
priced cheap and lonely in the local market.
The dead dreams of dead hands.
Anchor side banishment.
A wonderer’s dream
like salty, sad ocean sands
waiting for currents to take them away
but instead they grind them smaller
and make them stay.
tilled and toiled
of bread and lye
for our dear tender travelers
and their
Anchor side banishment.

- I liked it very much. Really nice images, not sure about that second to last stanze, don't feel that it added anything. Liked the line about bread to pretend contentment as well as the sound of frayed and faded slaved and sold. 5/5
