• Close your eyes, can you see it?
So much feeling, so many colors, can you feel it?
This pretty world of dreams and schemes
    Lies just beneath your fingertips
Nothing is ever as it seems
Like how you caught the moonlight when it drips

    Pulsing spectra, this beauty, nameless
    Standing before her, perfection faceless
Names and places all flash by
    Crouching down, the flowers blazing
    Floating embers score the sky
Twinkling like the stars, a sight that's so amazing

    Minutes passing, oh so slowly
    Impatience growing, afraid and lonely
You panic, thinking it’s the end
    You’ll never get another chance
She looks at you, just like a friend
Holds out her hand, for one last dance

She smiles slowly, like a child
She’s young and gentle, tough and wild
You never know what’s her next thought
“There’s nothing to it,” as she says
“The life you have’s the one you got
So be all the things you can, instead.”

And then she sings, and laughs, and cries
Hating those who try to wipe those tears from her eyes
You think you know her deepest secrets, her deepest fears
The double-sided truth, the ever deeper meaning
Not a lie, her box of stained glass tears
Is a lie, the reason for what she was needing

And so, she says to close your eyes
To see this beautiful world, in disguise
To be all that you want to be
And never have to fear, or hate
Finally, she’ll open her eyes to see
    Nothing but being too late
