• I walk this world in shades of grey,
I see the grey trees, grey sky, grey grass,
I listen to the people speak in shades of grey,
Giving arguements clear as black and white,
But even black and white are shades of grey.

I see my reflection and I am grey,
I do not love, my heart is grey,
I do not sing, my soul is grey,
I do not dream, my mind is grey,
I do not smile, my mouth is grey,
I do not shine, my eyes are grey,
I do not show, I am grey.

But in this world, I see a light,
A tiny red spot among the grey,
I reach out and the glow spreads up my arm,
The red reaches out and takes my hand,
    But yet I feel nothing,
I turn my head and see the light,
From the corner of my eye I see the light,
Even the red light has turned grey.

I want to get rid of the grey,
I want to love, a passionate red,
I want to sing, a flowing blue,
I want to dream, a beautiful purple,
I want to smile, a joyful yellow,
I want to shine, a blazing orange,
I want to show, a gentle green,
And do away with all the grey.

I would paint my world of grey,
With all the colors that can be felt,
But all the colors that I hold,
All my paint is in shades of grey.
