There is this light that keeps me awake.
In the middle of the night,
with each breath I take,
The light seems to move; and its calling my name.
What a shame that I should ignore it.
There is this light, it has to be fake.
Its starting to dim from my sight.
These feelings that I just cant shake.
When the truth is there and only one to blame,
What a shame that I'm told to ignore it.
The light grows brighter and the Fear is stronger.
The day wont destroy it;
for the light lingers a little longer
and seems to be there all the time.
What a shame that I can't break from it.
The light now seems to dim no longer;
and Im stuck in the middle of a despairing pit.
Where nothing but the burning seems to scar.
If only these words could diminish the past crimes.
What a shame that these are only words.
When the light is gone, and I can sleep,
I know I was not wrong.
Though the feelings will still creep.
My name will be whispered and no longer called.
What a shame all this time I ignored them.
When the light is replaced, and Im fast asleep,
And I was wrong all along,
It will be a face that memories keep.
Only to show that those feelings were long stalled.
What a shame to have ignored them.
The light that would leave me weak,
like the ones before it,
What a shame,
What a shame,
For all I can do, is ignore it.
