A poem I wrote for English

• Artist: Music Breaks Hearts
• Description: We're focusing on poetry right now in my English class, and we had to write a short poem about something in nature using at least one metaphor or simile. As I was watching snow melt from the window near my desk and nursing a broken heart, this is what came to me.
  If you would be so kind I could use suggestions for something to compare the thickness of the ice to, because tree trunk sounds kind of weird. :s

As I watch the once cold,
the once frozen
harder than rock
thicker than a tree trunk ice melt,
it diffuses the own ice
encasing my frigid heart.
