• The Cutting Woman came back today
    She slithered into my brain
    Held me miserable
    Made me insane
    She delighted in the scars
    She wanted to make more
She loved that I didn’t eat
She wanted me to be a whore
    She wanted me diseased
    Like her
    Rotten, cast off,
    Useless
    Ugly
I heard her nasty voice as I walked-
    Paranoid
She wanted me to feel this way
And I let her subjugate me
    She was sickeningly proud
    I was feeling horrible,
    Then good-
    It’s what I deserved
I finally got the nerve to look her in the eyes
    She was just like me,
    Only more ragged
    More worn
    She smiled nasty broken teeth
    I smiled teethlessly back
    I realized finally who
    Was the one who lacked
    “I forgive you”
    She flinched
    “You’re beautiful”
    She moaned in terror
“One day you’ll understand how much so”
She let out a shriek, covering her ears
“I promise that I’ll love you”
    She was a bloody mess
    “Don’t do this to me!”
    She screamed,
    Shaking,
    Wailing the whole while
I welcomed her in my arms
    And we were one again
The Cutting Woman came back today
And I finally put her bone to rest
    She is asleep,
    Finally
And is getting some much needed rest.
