Incite the silence that burns inside
Entice the mind to realize
And reify the heart's desire
To write end to this reprise.
In solitude, solemnity
Is sovereign o'er reality
Its bitter song set on repeat
Until its minions Love defeats.
So stay thy blade and close thine eyes
And slay the demons that lurk inside.
Now, as the bridge collapes, in its wake
Rewrite the chorus; sing in spite of Fate.
With lucid mind and candid eyes
Review the world around, surmise,
And by thine own conviction, cadence this Reprise.

Description:
This one took me a few months to write. I started it in October and had writer's block for a few months then finally picked it up around March or April and finished it. It's an extended metaphor loosely relating songwriting to regaining control of one's life in hard times.
I still don't like the word "surmise" in the second-to-last stanza, but I can't figure out how to replace it. - Date: 06/13/2012
