I remember when she looked at the sun and her eyes illuminated of green blue and brown, like they almost changed colors with every breath she took, drew in everyone who was around... her thighs were clear and not covered in cuts, her body wasn't wasted away, her teeth weren't yellow and chipped, her knuckles weren't covered in calluses. I remember her hugs weren't so loose, or so tight as she convulsed on my shoulder, she wasn't so small she felt like you could break her. I remember when she slept in a bed, rather than on the floor, feeling unsafe and alone. I remember when she slept I could hear her breathe, rather than turn over on the floor letting out screeches that sounded like a scared little child. I remember when she smiled and danced, rather than cried in a corner, wrapped in a blanket, mascara staining her face./ I remember when she skipped down a colorful school hall, her senior year of high school, rather than slowly walking down halls in a place, where the walls are all grey surrounded by people who were as far gone as she. I remember her warm hazel eyes, now cold hazel, lifeless, miserable.
What is it to blame, we're all looking for who is to blame.
The man that stole her innocence, long ago...
The girl, you know, all she ever wanted was for someone to hold her, and tell her everything will be ok. A mom who would say "I love you" rather than ignore her and push her away.
It's not romance she wants, but the one thing every child should have,
before they grow up, and have a hole that wont ever fade.
I remember when she was hopeful, thinking she would succeed, but now she's tormented by something everyone really needs.
three words that mean what they say... "I love you". Not the kind of love from a lover of romance, but an unconditional religiously said "I love you..."
let go baby, keep your head towards the stars, they shine just for you, right through the glass bars....
