Look in the Mirror
What do you see?
The scars of judgment, disappointment, of the people that made you bleed
The lies of friends that made you believe that beauty was the remedy that you need
Did they not realize that that was mean?
The pounding of expectation overwhelms me
This goal they have placed for me seems so far from reach
The constant pain that leeched the blood from these veins
NO, NOT THIS
This is not what I need!
I need to believe that I am free – from judgments, from trials, from the people who steal, steal the confidence that I need
Look in the Mirror
What do you see?
Is it the tears that leak from the windows of my soul?
Why does this endless stream of broken dreams and philosophies overflow my mind?
Why can’t I find a way to breathe the air that’s purer than mine?
These magazines of boney beings, plastic surgery and hateful meanings surround this being with painful feelings
IT DOESN’T MATTER, NO ONE CARES!
When will this change?
When will they care?
I am well aware that this isn’t me,
Now I know that I am free
That I have the power to free my soul from these chains
From the magazines, human beings and painful feelings that kept me down in the dumps
Because of my unique features and awkward bumps
Look in the mirror
What do you see?
A girl who gleams of happiness as if she lived in a sea of superiority
Oh, for she no longer cares what people see
Because she believes in identity rather than the labels that caused her misery
Rather than the pain that leeched the blood from her veins
Rather than the goal that seemed so far from reach
Rather than the lies of friends that made her believe that beauty was the remedy that she needed
Rather than the scars of judgment, disappointment of the people that made her bleed
Rather than that mirror that caused her so much grief
For she cares not what people see
Yes, Oh Yes
This is me
