i swear it's like she's the heartlands personified
hay-colored hair,
that cornflower blue dress she loves so much,
a bronze heart-shaped locket,
and the anxious expression of a soldier's wife when she's worried
and her eyes, oh her eyes
sky blue and so deep i swear
i could go cloud-watching in them
her soul is like a prairie
wide and open with the wind whispering through it
little wheat stalks that tickle your cheeks
like her laugh
and i want nothing more
than to lie, on my back
between her soul and her eyes
and watch the clouds roll by
