Chapter 14: The End of My Past; The Beginning of My Future...
Over the next year several things dramatically changed for me. The first of which, of course, was that I wasn’t alone anymore. The second being… now I had a permanent residence, which means thankfully no more traveling. The last being our new born son Asagi named for his light blue eyes…Even as a new born Asagi had little red hairs on the top of his head, which everyone said “like father like son” comparing him to Akairo. The light blue eyes he must have got from me everyone told me. I was grateful to have Okaasama’s help in raising Asagi since I had no siblings I knew nothing of raising a baby. The people of the village helped too spoiling Asagi with every toy he could ever want. Things are so different for Asagi then they were for me. Most of the stuff they have out now I couldn’t even think of existing when I was younger. Even with all the extra stuff I really couldn’t imagine raising Asagi without Akairo and Okaasama and even Auntie Rin and Auntie Sakura and Uncle Chiro’s help.
Asagi grew up so quickly before my eyes…Before I knew it he was crawling around exploring, while Akairo and I took turns chasing him everywhere. At almost a year old Asagi begun to talk, but he was really shy around everyone except his relatives. At one and a half Asagi had the courage to walk on his own and he followed Akairo and me everywhere. Akairo now worked as assistant to the mayor and Akairo told me when the time was right the mayor would pass on his responsibilities to Akairo. I great honor indeed and I hoped it wasn’t too much pressure for Akairo…so much was expected of him now with Asagi and now this. I wondered if Akairo ever missed his carefree life as the leader of Red Sun, but he often reminded me of how happy he was to finally settle down with a family of his own. I found some comfort and relief in his words that gave me strength while he was away helping the mayor and citizens of the village.
Kiel came to visit at least twice a year and every time he did Asagi lit up with joy, calling Kiel “Ojiisan” (grandpa) as he gave him a great big hug. Kiel always offered to watch Asagi, while Akairo and I caught up on our sleep and recharged our batteries. We were always sad when Kiel returned home, but he always promised to visit again soon and sure enough it wasn’t long before the seasons changed and Kiel came around again to lovingly show off his grandson and spoil him rotten. That winter, while Asagi was playing in the snow... I though for a brief moment I saw my parents standing in the distance smiling and waving at me. In the blink of an eye they were gone and as the wind blew through my hair... I though I heard my father’s voice whisper in my ear “We are so proud of you Rayne.” With that the winds died down and a single tear, of pride and accomplishment, rolled down my cheek into the snow at my feet.

Today I saw the first shooting star of my life.
However, I didn't know what to wish for.
Maybe it's because I already have everything I could ever wish for.
