All of Von Carthaig industries and even the U. G. E contribute funds to the Orphan Schools and Tia oversees it all. She handles all fostering and adoptions too. The Schools are largely self-sufficient but there is still money quietly collecting for scholarships and shortfalls etc. Meantime Tia can borrow and return as needed. She also draws her wage from this account as well. Her salary is a modest amount but it adds up- especially when funding takes care of most of the bills.

Inspite of potential problems of breeding with her lover she is loyal to him. Of her twins, Tarquin is just a regular kid but Temma is incredibly musically gifted like her father. Temma has dark-brown hair with red highlights and green eyes and Tarquin has his mother’s hair and eyes. She and Tar have all the usual training but she is concentrating on her musical career.

Tar can’t seem to find a niche to slid into and resents the fact that his twin so easily found a place for herself. Grandma Ellie (any kid at or after ‘great grandma’ gen just calls Ellie grandma) said don’t stress about it. Just be yourself as that’s all that’s needed. After all there’s plenty of time. He drifts and tries his hand at a bit of everything but can’t settle. He drifts earning his way as a JOAT (Jack of All Trades) earning just enough to live on.

Eventually he discovers sailing and the sea and finds his place. He is 2nd gen Dhampir so the sea doesn’t hurt him like it would a full blood. It becomes his 1st love. There is his natural talent- becomes a sailor and then captain of his own ship transporting goods and people for Von Karthaig and their allies.
Gathers several other captains to him and becomes master of a shipping fleet. This sure cleans up Von Karthaig travel and shipping arrangements. He is subsidized by Von Karthaig and their allies but also takes on merchant trading and the ocean postal service.
