I heard dad downstairs talking on the phone to someone, I never moved from the bed until I heard his footsteps coming up the stairs. I opened my eyes, as I heard my room door opening and saw dad standing there looking at me.
"Sofia. I was wondering if you wanted to go on an little trip during your long weekend?" He asked me, as he played with something in his jeans pockets.
"What kind of trip would that be dad?"
"Well as you know Christmas is a month away, and I'm not sure what to get you, so I was thinking. That is if you want to, we could go for an short drive to that favorite store of yours and do some shopping and maybe just have a good long weekend. Does it sound good to you?" He asked looking at me.
I looked up at him, slightly shocked. Dad never ever offered to take me out shopping so why now. I smiled though all the same, happy that he wanted to take me out for once.
"Sure dad, it sounds like a good way to waste the long weekend. Thanks."
"No problem sweetie. Now I have an meeting tonight, so I'll talk with you later. There is money downstairs so you can eat out or whatever. Have an good night." He said as he walked out of my room.
" Thank you dad. Have a good night, and be careful on the way home." I said as I reached over and grabbed an book off my bedside table and grabbed the pen next to it and opened up the book, flicking to the last entry and going to the next clear page so I could write something.
Today is November 9, 2006. Dad asked me today if I wanted to go shopping for my Christmas gift next weekend, since we had an long weekend. Sure it may seem like an nice gesture but if you knew my dad like I do you wouldn't think so. Dad is always busy with meetings and all of that stuff that he never really has much time for me at all. It seems nice to go out and spend sometime with him and I'm glad, cause this year I will be getting the gifts I really what not like every other year. But it still confuses me.
Dad and I haven't really celebrated Christmas much in the last five years, since mom left really. Dad never did tell me why she left that night, and no one really did ever find the truth. I was always left in the dark anyways. Dad says she is married now and is happy, and that is all that matters, but why doesn't she come to see me? I try to not think too much on it as it doesn't bother me all that much.
Well I guess I will go and get something to eat and then watch an movie. Bye for now.
I closed up the book and laid it down on the bed side table and got off the bed walking down the stairs. I turned on the television, walking into the kitchen and started to make some mac and cheese for my supper. Sure it was probably the only thing I every ate, but it was so good, I couldn't help it.
I cooked it up, mixing the cheese, butter and just a bit of milk into it before stirring it all together. I walked into the living room and started to watch some cartoon show on vampires and hunters. It was pretty weird, but yet I had to watch it.
I finished eating my supper and washed up the dishes before laying back on the couch and watched the television some more. I soon drifted off to sleep, not noticing I did.
I heard the front door open, but I just didn't bother to move. I heard someone come in, just thinking it was dad, I never bother to move. I heard them come in and turned off the television before lifting me from the couch and bring me up the stairs to my room. He covered me up and I soon drifted back to sleep, dreaming an happy dream.
