And now for something completely different: Youtube.
Youtube has got to be the best place to find amusing videos, as well as missed anime episodes or the silly little vids that fans made. Let's see... so far, I've seen episodes 1 through part of number 8 (since the player keeps stopping partway through) of Fullmetal Alchemist, episodes 4 ('cause the last one I saw was number three) through the end of episode 24 of Naruto, many fan-vids for FMA and not as many fan-vids for Naruto. Mostly funny little things, mind you. 'Cept for a few of the Naruto ones and two of the FMA ones. I recommend seeing Roy Mustang: King of Spain (Sort of...), The FMA Dance, and Roy Mustang: What about my part of the episode?, among the others that I've found. The Goldmember (FMA) one was good too, but not as good as the other three I've linked to (there's the Ultimate Conditioner thing that uses parts of episode one for Naruto, but I can't find it to link to). All four of them are funny. One moreso than the others. ^^
But while watching the Naruto episodes and the fan-vids made using parts from the first three episodes, I'm starting to see how much CartoonNetwork and those other channels that air these shows edit the episodes before actually showing them on TV. I'm seeing the words 'damn' and 'hell' (among a few others...) appear a lot in the subtitles, as well as there being a noticeably higher amount of blood. Why CN and those other channels seem to think that that kind of thing isn't 'clean' enough to be getting to their viewers, I shall never know. But at least you can get at the original Japanese versions of those episodes on Youtube. I'm glad Hitori told me about that site. ^^
Also in complete non-relation, I shall be telling you about my newest two GCube games.
The first is called Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. While it isn't as good as some of the games that I own, it's better than others. But there's one main problem that I have with it: the people in the game most definitely do not have enough mass in their torso to be considered entirely human. I mean, looking at the picture on the back of the game's case, I'm seeing this ultra and unnaturally thin kid with a waist in an abnormally low place. It's just weird, running around playing as this kid. But at least it's a big step up from the game before it, Pokemon Colosseum. Graphics and overall fun-wise. It may be harder, but it has got to be at least three times as long as its predecessor, excluding the special little things you can do after you've technically beaten it (which makes it even longer, since I don't yet know where the extra little aftermath quests end).
I know that there are those of you reading this that wonder what I mean by 'technically' beating a game. I'll tell you. 'Technically' beating a game is when you beat that final boss (or complete whatever the final task is, since not all games have a final boss) and are then shown the credits for the first time (through the game, not the menu). 'Officially' beating a game is when you've done absolutely everything that can possibly be done in the game; meaning that you've completed all of the optional side-quests, beaten all of the optional bosses, collected all of the -viewable- hidden/special items (I know in the Pokemon games, there's the Itemballs and there's some items that you can't see and need to use the Itemfinder to find), and managed to collect all hidden -permanent- powerups (which I know aren't in every game). As you can see, there's quite a difference.
Anyway, this game's much more fun and eye appealing than the one before it; as I'm sure I've touched on previously. The graphics are much smoother (especially on the Pokemon animations), as well as many of the attacks having different animations. I still miss the old fire ones, even though they burned my eyes. They fixed the glitch that stopped all animation on a frozen Pokemon so that it now shows the death animation (they cut the time on a few of them, though), but they made it harder to catch the Shadow Pokemon by getting rid of the Ball-switch trick. How easy the first game was once you've obtained the Masterball.... They also made it harder by making shadow moves super-effective on purified Pokemon, as well as adding many new ones. But they took away the recoil damage from Shadow Rush. I'm grateful for that, since there's a Pokemon that knows False Swipe (and you'd know the importance of that attack for catching wild Pokemon if you've played any of the GameBoy games) really close to the beginning, and another one not too long after. And they nearly doubled the number of Shadow Pokemon that have to be caught (from 46 to 82), and most of them can be caught in the Ruby/Saphirre/Emerald games. Frustrating having to catch guys like Numel, Ralts, Shroomish, and Baltoy (since they're common in the games). Right now, I've saved it right outside of the elevator that takes you to Master Greevil (final boss) with only fourteen hours and 27 minutes on my game file.
The second one has a really long name that I can't seem to remember entirely without the help of Ign. It's Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wing and the Lost Ocean and it's crazy fun. Already I've made it quite a ways into the game (and my friend STILL can't believe how fast -and sometimes easily- I can beat games, or predict the outcomes of attacks and battles), but since I have no idea as to how long it is, I can't say exactly how far. Seven hours of gameplay coming from me and it gets saved one boss away from the final (okay, okay, so it took me fourteen and a half to get to Ridley in Metroid Prime...). So far, nobody I've talked to at school knows what this game is, or has even heard of it. There goes my chance on getting offline (non-internet) help. Ign doesn't even have a guide for it, so I had to head on over to GameSpot when I got stuck. Even then, I couldn't figure out where the information I wanted was in the guide (but I did eventually find it). -sigh- It's a lot like Phantasy Star, with the card thing an' all, but it bends more toward Pokemon than Yu Gi Oh (Haven't I said that Phantasy Star was like Pokemon meets Yu Gi Oh, but bent a little more toward the latter? Well, I did now! ^^) and is that much better, not only with the smoothness of the graphics and the coolness of the attack animations (my favorite so far is Energy Wave, one of Kalas's finishing moves), but with the overall playability and world size. It's HUGE! I think that it rivals the world from Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker in size and traveling difficulty (kind of hard, maneuvering Kalas on the teeny weeny little path that's just barely visible on the background between places). At least the people speak. I mean speak speak, with actual voices coming out of the TV's speakers. Right now, I'm heading up to the castle in the area just after beating the robo-beetle thing on the cloud-bridge-thing. You'll get what I'm talking about if you've played the game to or beyond that point. ^^
Holy hot tamales (Odd saying of mine, innit), that's an EXTREMELY long rant. o.o Thirty minutes to type (at most), only two seconds to hit the submit button and have the next page begin to load. It's almost on the third page in Word. o.o
