This is my journal! Come read about anything random that I feel like writing about!
I just read an awesome book!
Finally, after several months of saying, "I'll get around to it," I finally finished reading BoneMan's Daughters, by Ted Dekker. The book was crazy, but it was awesome!

Ted Dekker is my favorite author because he always has the psychopathic killers. I like psychopaths. Also, he ties in Christian themes into his story, without allowing those themes to take over. He makes allusions to different parts of the Bible, but not letting the Bible dictate the entire book. He is a Christian author without specifically being a "Christian author".

BoneMan's Daughters is about a man named Ryan Evans who had returned to his family after a traumatic experience in the Iraq desert. Realizing that he had never been a good husband or father, he desperately needed to see his family again and be the father he should have been.

Upon his return home, he finds that his daughter hates him for never being there for her, and his wife who has found love in the arms of another man, filing for an official divorce from Ryan. Ryan is crushed and heartbroken.

Until a well-known killer recently released from prison known as the BoneMan kidnaps his daughter Bethany. He was labeled as the BoneMan because he had kidnapped six other younger girls of varying ages, and brutally killed each and every one of them by breaking every bone in their body without breaking their skin, and leaving them to die.

Now, with law enforcement on his tail, Ryan Evans must find his daughter before it's too late.

The book was crazy! Bethany realizes that nobody loves her in her world. Her mother only wanted her so that somebody would submit to her, her father had pretty much abandon the family, she has no real friends because of how they constantly move, and she is unwanted all around.

The BoneMan is obsessed with having a perfect daughter. One who is beautiful and flawless, and will love him as much as he loves himself. And he believes he finally found that in Bethany. Bethany, on the other hand, is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, meaning she has learned to accept her captor and love her captor in an attempt of survival.

Ryan, the real father, must now find his daughter, and win back her love after sixteen years of never being there for her.

The book is well worth reading! I highly recommend it to anybody who can stomach the content!

Just yesterday, after reading about how the BoneMan got mad at Bethany, grabbed her left pinky, and just snapped it, I shuddered as my girlfriend held my hand. It was a little disturbing, but I laughed at my response to her.

The book consists of several incidents in which victims are rendered helpless as their bones are broken. There is also a point in the book where Ryan must break his own bones. There's simply bones breaking throughout the book. If you can stomach the theme of the book, I highly recommend that anybody read it!
