“WAIT! I didn’t tell you the worst part.”
“I…can’t…go…on…” The girl slumped to the ground panting and heaving. The guys stopped and turned around to the tiny been on her hands and knees. They couldn’t be mad, she had been keeping up so well without complaint, even though it was painfully obvious she was not in shape to do it. She was one of the rich ‘lazy’ people that didn’t exercise a lot, so they weren’t built for the distance walking that everyone else was. But she proved that heart could make up for so much, which got respect from the guys.

“Here…” Her friend came back and picked her up easily since she was built so small and almost frail. He carried her to a down tree where he sat her down then raised her arms over her head. “Boo?” “It stretches you out a bit more so air will get into you easier and better.” “Okay…” She trusted him, he could stab her in the chest and she would believe him if he said it was to get air into her more. From they’re first meeting till now he’s saved her life several times. She had no reason to not believe him; hell, he hadn’t even stolen from her ever.

The chestnut headed one walked off with the expressionless one to scout out if they were safe enough to stop. “Boo…I can’t go on, I hurt too much.” “I’ll carry you.” “No you won’t, I will only slow you down and hinder you guys.” “No-” But stopped with the girl raised her hand “No. It’s sweet that your defending me from myself but I know that its not going to be a good situation. You know as well as I that I can cost us the precious time that we don’t have.” She looked over when the two came back and gave them the okay then settled in for a needed rest. “Boo…You have to get to the north, you have to. I can’t make it as that’s still a hard trip that will take a long time…I don’t know how long.” “Several weeks.” “He speaks” The guy blurted out as he turned to see the expressionless one regain his face from the comment. Turning back to his friend “He speaks.” “I see that…” She blinked looking over a bit wearily, that was scary.

“anyways…” she looked slowly back up at her friend. “I’ll hide here as you’ll remember this place and its safe.” “For now” “Yes party pooper for now. But I am confident in hiding in the woods. Especially since he got me new clothes.” thumbing to the foul mouth but happy go lucky man who waved feverishly at them as if he hadn’t seen them for weeks. She blended in with the surrounding area much better since she dropped the white bloomers for scout clothes. “Fine but I’m digging a hole.” “Why?” “for a place that you can hide and sleep in.” Pulling a trinket he formed up a metal shovel “I don’t wanna know do I?” “No.” “Kay.”

He found a small hill with a bush tightly hugging it as if it was a door. “Perfect…” And went down and started digging. He dug a snug path in there that turned into a decent den that would keep her warm. Leaving food in there he came out “There…you go?” The three were standing there with small smiles on their lips “What?” “You looked like a dog digging up his bone.” There was a small uncomfortable chuckle from the group but soon they said their goodbyes. Hugging the girl tightly to him “I will be back for you. Your like the sister I always wanted and not wanted.” “Thanks I think.” “Mhm” Giving her one last snuggle he released her and walked away, he had to or he would have stayed to protect her. He had to move fast as her sniffles were pulling on his heart strings to the breaking point.

Why was he letting himself get attached to this girl? He hated her in the beginning! Hated! And now all he wanted to do was go back and shield her from the bad things of the world…including himself. But he knew it wasn’t love as there was still a gaping hole in his heart, but it was less, much much less, it now felt like he had a heart. Maybe he needed to be loved before he could even think of love…that’s the only thing he could think of. He wanted that someone but never could seem to hold onto it but when she came into his life there was finally one that cared and loved him…after the initial hate. But now he understood love and friendship more, he never really had anyone that cared or socialized him so he just took took took. Now he was learning to give and take, he actually really liked it as she was sticking around for more then a week. He now understood what it meant not to be selfish and it made his cold, dead, stone of a heart warm up and start beating with a passion for life.

He pushed past his thoughts on the events that led up to this moment, he just wanted to get help and stop the madness that seemed to run through man’s mind into wanting to control all that is living. Including mother nature herself as he saw such things that shouldn’t happen to animals and plants along with the humans. It was horrific but on the journey with his two new friends, he wondered, what could such a small band of people with gifts do against armies of blood thirsty men that dined on over the bodies of the dead? He shook his head trying to clear all thoughts, period, as none seemed to comfort him or give him hope. He didn’t like that.

The next few weeks for the guys were fairly relaxed and easy going as they weren’t getting much resistance on their journey. For the poor female that was left behind life was not that easy. It all started off with her having to relieve herself and coming back to a cute little black and white kitty trying to take her den. “Aww sweetheart we can live to-” then it sprayed her with something that made her instantly vomit “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU!” punting it off, not even thinking she ran off to water trying desperately to clean herself, vomiting the whole time. It was too much for her system. The day after she had to build a little ramp as it was raining in and trying to flood her out.

Things just seemed to keep piling up like this and finally on the most perfect beautiful day she crawled out and just started crying as she wasn’t used to all this. She was the typical female of the time, she was dependant on a male to protect her and she finally was admitting to herself that she was scared to death. She didn’t like being out there, she didn’t like having to survive on her own she wanted her boo back to protect her. She liked being girly even if that meant that she had to be tormented by others or called a princess or having someone not like her cause she had just a bit of whine to her. She didn’t care, she was just being herself and if they didn’t like that they could just go somewhere else and hate her she didn’t need that, she just needed a guy to protect her and she could support him.

About that time the boys were starting to slow down as they were in knee high snow. “Oh wow this really sucks…badly…” The normally cheerful one quipped as he snarled at the ground. “No way in hell could that poor girl make it through this.” As much as he hated to admit it the young forge manipulator had to agree. It was best to leave her there, she would be safe; well he hoped she would be safe but now he could only press on. Pulling a hood lower and narrowing his red eyes, he hunkered down a bit and pushed harder with his legs as a blizzard was picking up. The faster he got help the faster he was going to get back to her, then it hit him, she’s never had to ‘kill’ to eat what food was around that she could forage and the food he left wouldn’t last her even if she did ration it out. Oh this wasn’t good.

Oh this really isn’t good “why did you stop.” The normally quiet one stepped up and put his hand on his shoulder “That…” the white haired one pointed to a massive white bear on his back legs sniffing the air. “well….s**t what is that thing?” “No clue…” then it roared, they would have peed themselves at that but they already went…and their bladders were frozen solid. Then howls were heard, and screeching of massive birds with almost finger like wings rang out as if it was an orchestra playing their dirges. “We are so dead…” as they watched a shadowy figure walk slowly they’re way with spiked wings. “Can you multi my arrows enough for this?” “I am pretty much too scared…I think I would multiply the wrong thing and we would have about a thousand white fluffy things after us…” speaking truthfully as his voice shook when he saw they weren’t spiked wings but spikes on a massive axe.

The three were really glad she wasn’t here, no telling what would happen to her as a monster of a man walked out and looked at them sternly with piercing malachite eyes. It almost seemed to sear into their souls, yank it out, observe it to see what their intentions were then shoving them back within their bodies. He said nothing. His lips did not even twitch as he seemed to loom over them as if he was going to eat them. Just as he sighed ever so softly an eerie silence almost echoed off the lands, even the wind had stopped. Walking forward in the gently falling snow, his shadow ate the cheerful one from the sun. His massive broad shoulders were adorned with furs and metal armor they have never seen the likes of. His chest was mostly bare other then the riddles of scars and few draping furs. His abs and legs also scared were ever so lightly adorned with warm furs along with his forearms. His feet however did have heavy fur wrapped around them so he wouldn’t loose toes to the cold.

Stopping a few feet from three he looked at them one by one dead in the eye as if to challenge them, there was something so evil yet so fair in his eyes. When they didn’t back down nor step up he took in a vast amount of air and let out a mighty roar unlike anything they heard before, the animals got excited and started calling out in their different tones to his very deep rumbling cat call that shook the very earth below their feet. The cheerful one was out cold, no ifs ands or butts, gone. The quiet one had to go into a meditative state so he could keep himself calm. However the one that had the most riding on this had to stay strong. Removing his hood when the roar ended he just quietly told the massive being with the wild black hair that was whipping around in the wind again, what was going on. He told him what man was doing to man. But to his dismay the massive man with the axe turned and walked away as if to say ‘not my problem’. Looking at the animals he realized they were the recluse’s family. “WAIT! I didn’t tell you the worst part.” The man did not stop he told him of the horrors that were being done to the animals. That stopped the big guy dead in his tracks so fast that the white haired one wondered if it was such a good idea to tell him.

Coming back there was FIRE in the greens of his eyes along with a low deep rumbling growl of hate. “Not me…them….”making sure to point OVER his two friends. “I have someone I want to protect but right now I need your help so we can stop the men from hurting her AND your animal family. Will you help me?” The big guy snarled his lip up at the though of going back to civilization but he couldn’t let his animal friends have no chance of survival. Snorting he walked forward past the three as if he was going somewhere. Sighing and letting his eyes shut but for only a second the young male opened his eyes to nothing. All the animals and sounds were gone. He had to get out of there so he packed up his friends and they scurried off behind the guy.

“Where are we going?” the not so cheerful now one looked over to his friends. “No clue but do you really wanna tell him we’re going in the wrong direction?” “Nope. I’m good. You?” “looking to his quiet companion that was now a shade or two whiter from the whole situation. “Good answer…” Quietly the followed the mass of a man to much warmer climates, in which he shrugged off the fur cloak and somehow tied it to him so it wouldn’t slow him down, heat him up nor bother him. So many times the three wanted to ask ‘are we there yet?’ but thought it best to stay silent. That was until they came to a gnarled tree like home deep in a swampy wooded area where no one would think life other then reptiles would reside in. Just as they were going to ask something the strange looking door started to creep open with a squeak of hinges that didn’t want to obey. They were already this far, there was no turning back now, right?
