Adara's, thoughts, stories and rambles.
Who is actually reading these?
"Run"
Unpacking and looking around the room, Adara sighed softly as this not only was her first move, it was a huge house, she didn’t get adjusted to what it was like to be alone in a small apartment. “I guess if your going to do something, go all balls to the wall…” she would always say but now she was starting to second guess her thoughts. However, the price was just too good to pass up, her brother even agreed though he didn’t like the house either. No one did but her, she saw her dream home, everyone else saw a scary death trap. It was a completely sound house, just…creepy. Yet they all agreed the Queen Ann style home was just up her alley being she was 100% gothic. The thing that sold the house wasn’t the fact that it was dirt cheap, or the fact that kids were scared of it, nor the awesome old graveyard in the back corner of the back yard, or even the spiked turrets that jetted from the roof giving rooms bay windows. No what sold the house to Adara were the gargoyles that littered all over everything…outside and in. When she saw the stone beasts and carvings, she turned to the realtor, who wanted out of the house badly, and immediately put money down.

Now sitting in her bed room surrounded by her stuff she had the hard realization that she didn’t even have plates. “This was not a good idea…” sighing she dropped a shirt on the floor in front of her realizing she didn’t even have enough stuff for her bedroom, this place was ginormous. Nearly peeing on the hairy purple area rug as she jumped and screamed she heard a loud boom from downstairs. Running down she was trying to figure out what broke, if it was a support beam or the floor but jumped again when she heard it and realized it was the massive door knocker.

“Jezuz” she panted as she opened the door to see her older brother standing there with a big sack of Chinese food “Adara? Are you sure about this house?” “Not really anymore…” Moving aside and letting him in she shut the heavy door and turned. “Well you have too options on chairs. The floor and this amazing inviso chair.” Smiling she pulled at air like she was doing the chair. Sitting down they mimicked her pushing him in. “Thanks sis thought you would be hungry.” Sitting they ate and talked about the house and he got the sense she really was happy here so he was just going to support her as much as he could. “What are you going to do about furniture?” “I’m ordering it from online, I found this great place that has sick furniture.” Nodding “I might even get a new bed!” he smiled, they had been through so much he was happy one of them was moving on, but feared she had only repressed the memory and didn’t remembered what happened to them.

The next few weeks furniture trickled then poured in for the house, which her brother stayed with her till she was settled in. That and he didn’t want her to be completely thrown to the wolves. When she was settled in he hugged her tightly and got the hell out of dodge. He couldn’t stand that house, something was off and no matter how he tried to tell his sister, she wasn’t having it. The house was perfect and he couldn’t sway her mind. He would always visit her, but in small spurts. But what could he say, his home was just the same, just different décor.

The days got a little cooler and shorter as the weeks bore on, she was happy she had massive fire places and lots of dead trees. She just burn the dead ones and plant new ones, she knew she wasn’t the brightest girl out there but at least she was trying to do this on her own. Being fall was coming she signed up for college classes and got everything in swing, work during the morning and early afternoon, study, school. She actually rather enjoyed the schedule, kept her busy and not thinking on how she missed her brother so much. She loved walking to school along the port and under some bridges, she felt like she had freedom, and at nights she would imagine that she was in the old world, her heels clicking on the cobble stone roadway as the salty air lightly slapped against her face. She stopped at one point at the foot of five or six small stairs that were just under a bridge. Closing her eyes she breathed in heavily smelling the salt, fish, and spices that impregnated the crisp night air.

“What are you doing there!” She turned quickly to see an older prude of a woman that had sharp soul piercing eyes and tightly pressed lips. “Your in my spot!” “Oh my apologies, I was just taking in the night and how awesome it feels. I never meant to offend…” “Well you did so begone!” “Hey lady, I can’t help it if your homeless, but I only stopped for a moment so you know what quit being so rude!”

A small yelling match ensued till something in Adara clicked which made her fight or flight senses spiked. Her eyes widened as she heard every animal in the city barking, meowing, howling, whinnying, mooing and so on. “Its yours I’m out of here!” She turned and dropped her books. She thought she heard the woman’s voice soften as she called to Adara to tell her that she dropped her school books. Adara didn’t care, she had to get out of there and hide. She no more then forced her way into an old warehouse and turn her phone to vibrate when she heard screaming from the lady. Clenching her eyes shut as the tears streamed from her face she listened to horrific screams of pain and agony from the homeless person.

‘Just die already!’ her mind screamed as she was trying to hold back her own screams. Her hands were shaking horrifically as she opened her eyes trying to call her brother. When she finally succeeded and she had the phone up to her ear. “Duo…..” she rolled her eyes to the left trying to see out of a hole, wishing she didn’t as she saw the beast that was killing the lady

“It’s here…how do I survive it because you won’t make it in time….” she took a sharp breath as she saw it dropping the lady’s body and two massive glowing white eyes turned her way.

“Run.”
