The night is black, No, gold, As the lightning forks across the sky.
The rain comes down, Pouring in sheets Into the falsely lit night.
I always walk in the storm, Contemplating the stupidity of man. Then I see the flames before me, Dancing and leaping in the darkness.
The flames come closer, Licking at skin and clothing, The heat turning the air Into a searing touch Against my face.
And suddenly the rain Turns to blood, The lightning A golden lance of pain As the night becomes A world locked in Death and despair.
The screams, the cries, Echoing throughout the empty night, The pain, the terror, Ripping through my body; Oh, Lucifer, my Lord of Darkness... Make it stop... Please! Make it stop!
Cries, screams, Praying with the desperation Of one with no hope left.
The flames dance higher and higher, Closer and closer, Eating away at the little hope Lying dormant in the heart, As terror takes over And eyes shut, The body leaps into action, Racing the fire, Racing death, Flying high and low, Thinking nothing, nothing...
Suddenly, the screams of terror... Wake me up. Skin glistens with sweat, My chest heaves with the effort Of forcing air into my lungs As tears p***k my eyes.
Never again, Never again will I enter The world of dreams. Instead, the realm of nightmares Has claimed me a permanent guest.
And so I become a wanderer In the endless night, Guiding lost souls, Following the darkened paths, My heart slowly becoming As dark as the eternal midnight around me.
