Akon was the big suck this year. I believe it was primarily because Fred Perry wasn't there and I always look forward to getting a commission from him. Also, the dealer's room seemed sparse, without a lot of variety. There wasn't ANY doujinshi that wasn't yaoi or hentai. I'd had hopes. Usually when I look at the schedule for each day I've JUST missed doing the one thing I wanted to do for that day, but this time, there was absolutely nothing on there that I wanted to do. Add the crummy paid parking downtown and you get the big suck Akon. Even the year where the power went out for hours was better than this one! At least that one was memorable.
Moving on...
Since I didn't get any doujinshi, I've decided that I'll just order it online again. Now, I can't read japanese to save my life, but I've decided that I'm going to study so that eventually I'll be able to do something other than just look at the pretty pictures and make up my own stories for what they're saying to each other.
I found an educational CDROM at work that is supposed to teach japanese. It claims that I'll be literate and fluent enough to carry on a conversation with one hour a day, five days a week, for twelve weeks. It also goes over Hiragana and Katakana which, for the most part, I had almost completely forgotten. Gomen, Nobu-sensei! I'm recalling the Hiragana quite quickly and I've been reading the doujinshi I do have, to reinforce the symbols. Not that I can understand anything... In a 20 page doujinshi, I'm lucky if I understand 3 words. We'll see if I can read and speak japanese in 12 weeks. We'll see...
My breakfast today was nine tomatoes that I grew myself, with garlic pepper on them. YUM! I had a few grape tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and sweet 100s. All, very good. But now, I'm hungry again and I'm gonna have some macaroni and cheese.
I love macaroni and cheese...
