Paul was sitting in this canoe enjoying the wonderful weather on the lake. His hat was down over his face, shielding his eyes from the blazing mid day sun. He slipped into a light sleep just as he heard a cry for help. At first he thought he was dreaming, but he heard it again. It was the voice of a girl, and a girl in need of help. He sat up quickly and looked around. He spotted an overturned canoe not to far from him, and he saw blood. Leaving everything where it was, he lept from his canoe and swam with all his might, hoping that she was alright. He lost sight of her as she slipped under the water. He got the the boat and took a deep breath. He dove under looking for any sign of her. He saw her hair floating gently in the soft current. He swam to her, taking ahold of her delicate body. He kicked hoping that he wasnt too late.
He sat ever her, watching for the first sign of breath. As she didnt wake, he knew he had to take action. He put his mouth to hers, breathing for her. He felt electricity pass between them just before she shifted under him. She woke.
"Who are you," were the first words out of her mouth. But the words were not scared, but curious.
"My name is Paul," he said, his stomach flopping inside him.
"Paul...I am forever indebted to you."
She kissed him, this time not in hope of life, but in hope of love.
