I'm tired of these bigots coming from all angles attacking love like it's something complex and incomprehensible. You love who you love and that's all there is to it.
My first love had been a guy before gay rights came into effect and I was tormented daily - that was my choice. I lived with it and openly showed my affection towards my partner. I continued down the same path and now being gay is common amongst American youth. I am, for the most part, accepted in the eyes of society.
But had it been my brother... or even sister for that matter, should I have one... would be a completely different story. I have a friend who is in love with his cousin and I see them as a completely normal couple despite they're blood related. I am, however, tired of seeing the expressions and often rude comments pushed toward them. If it's ok for me to be gay and in love, why can't they be in love as well?
I hear a lot of people say "You can't help who you fall in love with". So do just that - let love be love. There is no right or wrong. If you can accept me into your society you shouldn't shun others who are going through the same damn torment I went through. Accept them as well... accept all of us who love the 'forbidden love'.
