Why, why must I be a fly?
I only get 72 hours then I die.
Day after day I'm looked down upon,
Yes, soon I will be gone.
I long to be a butterfly, you see
It is they who have the beauty to keep.
But there will be no joy for me,
For I am but one fly you see.
All through the day I fly around but
My destination is yest to be found
The life of a fly has no meaning you see
Thus the meaning of life still eludes me.
To be as a hawk I would give my wings
To soar in the sky so majestically, but
I am a Fly, so really I can not be
All I may do is be annoying and die
Why, why must I be a fly?
I only get 72 hours then i die.
Day after day I'm looked down upon,
Yes, soon I will be gone.
Why, oh why must I be a fly?
Now my time has come you see to leave behind
All the glorious birds and bees, yes
the world is never kind to a measly fly
As I die you'll live your life, thus not hearing me cry
Why am I nothing but a fly?

- Title: Death of a fly
- Artist: blackkitten447
- Description: A humorous[in my opinion] poem I wrote in a creative writing class. It is about a fly wishing he was something other then a fly, but he can never be anything other then what he is. They underlying message is about identity and trying to find who you really are, and then learning to accept that. Also, I think the message can be to stop ignoring people even if they aren't exactly like you, or you see them as less. Enjoy.
