Every star is a living being with a mind, a soul and consciousness. They live, they love and they even create new life with their soul mate. The children were born on an almost euphoric planet, and once they fully matured, they too became stars in the infinite sky, ready to find their own soul mate and begin their own cycle.
But, as with all life, there were complications. It became harder and harder for children to be born, because once a child reached maturity, it would mark the end of the parents lives.
There was a strange sickness in the children, and they began to die. Nobody knew what the sickness was, or where it came from, but it was a cruel sickness that ravaged those who fell ill. And with more and more children becoming sick, and dying, fewer stars were willing to have children.
And no soul mates could have more than one child.
There were two stars, ancient and powerful, who had just decided to have a child, when the terrible sickness began. Terrified that their only child would die, they took it from the planet, and cocooned it in a solid block of rock, hoping to revive their child once the sickness passed.
But, the sickness did not pass, and the child lay sleeping within its heavy blanket. An age passed, and as the child floated through the nothingness of the universe, the rocks grew larger, attracting meteors until it was the size of a small planet. Eventually, it floated into the orbit path of a sun, and it soon snared a small moon and became a planet, with the child right in the center, sleeping.
Soon, the child woke. It had no memory of who or what it was, only that it was alone, and in a dark place. The child soon discovered a way to give life to the rocks that entombed it. After one day slipping and falling, the child realized that its blood had the power to make life grow, even in the darkest of places. And if it concentrated, it could control what grew from its blood. Delighted with this new discovery, flowers and trees soon filled the cavern that served as the child’s home. The cavern was overflowing with life, and it wasn’t long until the life leaked through the cracks to the surface. But no matter how many flowers grew, the child was alone. It longed for an instinctive companionship that it knew it didn’t have, but longed for.
So, it tried to create something that would keep it company, but it failed. Finally, after a millennia passed, the child began to learn how to tap deeper into its powers, and it came upon the solution to sustain life outside its lonely cavern.
On the surface of the planet, with help from the sun and the moon, trees grew thick and tiny animals began to emerge from the child’s power. The child was delighted to finally have friends, and was content to watch the animals grow and live, through the blood that fed the planet. The child laughed and watched as the animals evolved and grew, especially the animal that eventually came to look very similar to the child. The two-legged animals learned how to communicate with each other, and the child delighted in watching them learn and survive. But all too soon, the child realized that the animal, who soon called itself ‘human’ was growing and spreading much too fast, and it realized all too late, that it couldn’t sustain life to the whole planet…
