• Entry 0: Mission Overview

“Rakansen Island, a small island 795 miles southwest of Hawaii. This is the location of Avalon Shield Biotechnology Corporation's Lab Facility Gamma. Approximately a week ago, United Airlines Flight 279 crash landed on the island. A US Coast Guard rescue team was dispatched to attempt to rescue the survivors of the crash. However, contact with the rescue team was lost. So acting on the issue, a Navy Seals team referred to as “Deep Blue” left for the island. This team consisted of: David, a tactical assault officer; Justin, a sniper; Hector, a radio operator; Bryan, a Helicopter pilot; and Richter, who was the main officer in charge of the squad. The mission's objectives were to locate both the survivors of the plane crash and the Coast Guard rescue team.”

    Entry 1: Crash

“A simple mission,” I thought as I looked over my briefing papers. “There's nothing that could happen, it was entirely simple, carry out a search of the island, find survivors, return to base.” I looked down at the mission details again, not wanting to enter the conversation that Hector and Justin were in. Really, no one actually cared that Justin had a girlfriend back at the base. Someone was bound to take her away from him anyways. The whole issue was stupid, although I laugh about it.

“There's the Island!” Bryan said, as Rakansen Island came into view from underneath the clouds. It was a island covered in jungle, with a single large mountain (3259 feet in height, according to the map in the briefing papers) in the center. The island is roughly 2 miles long, a mile and a half wide, Avalon Shield's facility being on the west side.

Just then, I heard a terrible noise, and was near blinded by a brilliant flash, as a bolt of lightning crashed into the Black Hawk helicopter. Byran nearly panicked as practically every warning light that the helicopter had came on, simultaneously. The alarms were going off, and suddenly, something caught my eye: a huge chunk of metal, part of the propeller blade that was keeping the helicopter in the air had broken off, and feel to the ground. Then as the helicopter began to fall, I felt extremely ill and passed out.

    Entry 2: Survivors.

When I came to, Byran and Justin were already dead, both killed during the crash of the Helicopter. I could not bear to look at their mangled bodies, but I had no bracing for the coming horrors. In short order, me, Hector, and Richter all began moving as a team towards the Northwest, towards Avalon Shield's Facility. On this so-called “hike” we found one of what we had been looking for, the downed United Airlines plane.

The downed plane was in horrible shape; it's wings were completely destroyed, its fuselage in tatters, and much of it was smoldering even a week after it had gone down. From the look of it, there was very little chance of there being any survivors. Over looking the damage, Hector found himself being brought to the conclusion that the cause of the plane crash was unnatural: It was shot down, much of the damage being caused by a missile with a medium to low yield explosive.

Even with the chances slim, I so chose to carry out a search for survivors, and such, I began checking the inside of the plane. I found myself surrounded by the dead, not a trace of any life continuing in these people. However, much to my surprise, I found a woman near the back of the plane who was still breathing. While she was extremely startled at first, she was surprisingly unharmed. After I had questioned her, I found the following information: her name was Hannah, and that she was traveling with someone named Brooke. Brooke had apparently also survived the plane crash, and however, had left the plane to attempt to find help, she hasn't returned. In addition, Hannah also seemed to confirm Hector's suspicion of the plane being shot down. She claimed that the left wing of the plane just exploded and it crashed shortly afterward.

It was decided that the team as well as Hannah should spend the night in the plane: it was already getting dark and due to the dense forestation of the Island, proceeding further would prove to be extremely dangerous. Hector was placed on guard duty. I started to fall asleep.

    Entry 3: The Horrors

I awoke sometime later to a horrible cry of pain. At first I thought that there was another survivor on the plane, but then I came to the horrific realization that it was in fact Hector. Grabbing one of the two pistols out from my tactical vest, I quickly made my way outside, where I saw Hector being eaten alive by this human-like creature.

I watched in horror- too paralyzed by fear to do anything except train my gun on it, whatever it was. Then it dropped Hector's lifeless body to the side, and it slowly began limping towards me, at a slow yet steady pace, and this is when I began firing. I fired several shots in to it, and it fell dead.

Seeing Hector's death and what had happened, I ran into the plane, knowing that we couldn't stay here, lest those things kill us all. Richter had heard the gunfire, and was already preparing to move, he was also preparing Hannah to leave as well. It was a general consensus that we had to get out of where we were. I handed Hannah my spare pistol, and was making sure that she knew how to use it, so that should more of those things attack, that she would not be a lethal burden. However my terror grew as a groan was soon heard, and I turned to see Hector, who I knew was dead moments ago walking with the same staggering gait that the thing had had towards us, his eyes corrupted with a distinct blood lust, he had been reanimated as something of a zombie, or perhaps that was exactly what we were dealing with, however insane of a dealing that was. He lunged towards me, and attempted to bite my shoulder, or more likely my throat, but I kicked him backwards and opened fire. Hector fell to the ground, dead once again.

Not knowing what had caused the horrific reanimation, we decided to forego any further preparations for the simple sake of merely attempting to survive what horrific trial lay ahead of us.

    Entry 4: Flight

Upon leaving the site of the plane crash, we proceeded rapidly towards the Avalon Shield Corporation's Headquarters, that likely being the safest place to hide out, and there is the definite probability that there would be some sort of radio or other similar type of equipment accessible there as well.

Hannah expressed concern for this, “What if the Avalon Shield Corporation had become infested with the zombies as well?” she asked.

While this is a possibility, I explained that we shouldn't worry about that. Anyway, during the course of passing through the jungle that covered much of the island we had several encounters with more of them. As such, for purposes of rationing our ammo supply I chose to record the amounts of shots fired, and the amount of Ammo in reserve.
I held 350 rounds of 9 mm handgun ammo, as well as 30 rounds of 50 mm ammo for my Desert Eagle. Richter carried 125 rounds of ammunition for his M-16, and 2 Fragmentation Grenades. Hannah, had received a weapon from me and as such would be covered under my count. As for total shots fired, Hannah had fired only twice, however she missed both times. I myself fired 16 rounds, eliminating a total 5 zombies. Richter fired 3 shots from his 3-round burst assault rifle, so 9 rounds used, for the elimination of 3 zombies.

Our trip through the forestation would soon end however, as we arrived at an adjunct of Avalon Shield's facility, “The Old Castle”.

    Entry 5: Separation and Discovery

Upon entry to “Old Castle” me and Hannah got separated from Richter, he had gone down a split hallway. I could not tell if he survived or not, but we suffered due to several zombie attacks. It was here where we learned of what was going on, at least with the zombies anyway, apparently, Avalon had accidentally stumbled upon an ancient virus that reanimates dead cells. This virus seems to have a hive mind and will quickly attempt to spread by infecting other people or animals, most often through consumption, as in the infected person will attempt to consume an non-infected person. The name of the medical research project that had discovered this viral affliction is called, “Project Rahu”. In light of this, it was almost assumed that Hannah was right about Avalon Shield being completely overrun.
But of much well notice, we were able to find a place to rest for the remainder of the night.

    Entry 6: The Second Day.

Morning came much too soon. In the sun's light I was able to see the horrors of the “Old Castle”. Much of it had blood stains, and many corpses were strewn about the area, and there was still no sign of Richter.

Hannah was intent of searching for Brooke, however, this was intolerable, as this would be tantamount to suicide, we needed to find a place with a working radio so we could call for help, and an aimless search for someone who was practically guaranteed to be dead would merely waste time, and the researcher's journal reported that the virus is 100% nocturnal, a reanimated body would not function during the day. However, I was unable to persuade her of this, and we left the “Old Castle” in search of her friend. Much to my surprise, the search was rather easy, we found Brooke's lifeless body near the site of the plane crash. However this put us a good deal farther back, and the sun was beginning to set. Soon enough the horrors would walk again.

    Entry 7: The Second Night

Dealing with much emotional stress, we pressed on, making sure to not stay in any one place too long. There were many zombies on the island, and while we managed to survive the night, and made much progress towards Avalon Shield's Headquarters, as the next day was beginning to dawn, our bleak situation was dawning upon me. Hannah's horrible accuracy has become a great burden, and we are running out of ammunition, and we split the last of my MRE's, so we have no food either. The lack of sleep was a serious problem as well. With all this weighing against us, we proceeded forward, entering the compound in the early morning.

We both went our separate ways to search for whatever equipment, ammunition, food, or other needs that may be necessary for survival. I also had hoped to find Lt. Richter, that is, if he's still alive. We both agreed to meet at the Heliport near the gate when the sun began to set.

    Final Entry: Revelation

When we arrived at the Heliport, Hannah was surprised and angry.
“What the hell is going on here!? How did you know that this place would still be zombie free and have everything we needed for survival here?!” She yelled.
I merely smirked, and breathed. Just then, Richter walked up, holding a Desert Eagle in his hands, it trained on Hannah. “Your questions stop here,” he said.
“What-What's going on here!?” She shrieked.
“I said, 'Your questions stop here.' I meant that. The simple fact of the matter is, there are just some things that you can't know about.” Richter responded.
“But-” she staggering to her words.
“Silence!” a voice called out, as a helicopter descended from above. “Richter, you have your orders!”
“Humph. So be it.” He said. “At your command, Captain Falkner. But first, because dead men tell no tales... Hannah, was it? You wanted to know what was happening?” He said, as both me and him peeled off our Navy Seals patches on our uniforms, revealing the symbol of the Avalon Shield Corporation. “Both me and David are employees of the Avalon Shield Corporation.”
“What?!” She exclaimed. “I thought you were with the US Military!”
“That was a falsity. Neither of us are actually with the Navy Seals. Our real mission was to check the progress of the First Realization Test of Project Rahu.” I said.
    “First Realization Test?” She asked.
“That's simple to explain. Project Rahu was previously only tested in a lab. This island was set up to test it in a real life situation. And we shot down United Airlines Flight 279 to do just that.” Richter explained.
“Wait, wasn't Project Rahu designed to cure a disease such as AIDS?” she continued.
“No. That's also a lie, even though the data at Old Castle seems to point in that direction as well. Project Rahu exists to create a biological super weapon for use by the military. Of course, we can't let the public know about it, because if word of this got out, the UN would put a stop to it before it even gets a chance to be used.” I said, nonchalantly.
“That's horrible, you think I'm not going to tell anyone after I get off this island!?” Hannah exclaimed.
“We don't expect you to not keep this a secret.” Captain Falkner said, “That's why you're not leaving the island alive. None of the people on that plane are.”
    “What!?” She cried.
I then held out a small trigger device and pressed it. This caused the gun that she had on her hip to explode, knocking her down. “Send her out of her misery, Richter.” I said, and then Richter fired his Desert Eagle into her forehead, ending her life. I looked up towards Captain Falkner and nodded. “We have to get off this island now. It's set for 18 hours and me and Richter have a report to make. You also need to make yours. Project Rahu was a complete success.” I said, as me and Richter boarded the Avalon Shield Helicopter.
