• I did wonder why he didn't tell me the reason. Weren't we friends? Or maybe he was playing around, I was hoping that it wasn't either, as either one would be hurtful. The bus had pulled out of Chatham bus depo, and speeding it's way to the Gillingham bus depo, where it would stop for the night. I leaned my head on the window, looking out of it as I could see the sky turn black. I already knew that we were going to walk home in the dark, I just didn't think that it would happen this quickly.

"You going to be fine walking home once I go into my house?" James asked me as he looked at me with an eyebrow raised. I looked at him, taking my head off the window and nodded my head while putting on a fake smile, a smile that I knew wouldn't fool him, but at least it would make him think I was trying to cheer up; even though that wasn't the case at all.

He smiled back slightly, most likely because of my failed attemp at fake smiling as he pressed the red button saying stop on the yellow pole. It was also in Braile, so those who were blind would know what they're pressing, but how would they know when to get off? That confused me slightly, but I didn't let it bother me that much, I had bigger things to worry about.

We got off the bus, after thanking the bus driver, who wished us a good night and drove off again. Walking past the the shut down store that was once Vidoe city, we waited at the crossing. It was silent, and this silence was awkward, as if we wanted to say something, but couldn't in fear of offending the other one without meaning to. I looked at James from the corner of my eye, as I could see him do the same. I wondered what he was thinking, was he thinking the same thing as me?

We laughed slightly when our eyes met. We didn't know why, but we were glad that the silence was broken. The green man popped up on the other side of the road as we crossed it. Not paying attention, we heard a car beep. I froze though as the car sped towards us. I felt something grab my wrist and pull me out of the way as the car broke through the red light, a police car wasn't far behind.

"Why did you suddenly freeze?" James asked me, glaring slightly as he kept a tight grip around my wrist. I blinked as I came out of my froze state and looked at him.
"I don't know, I guess it was too sudden." I replied to him while shrugging my shoulders and standing up, feeling him let go of my wrist as I did. I looked at my black jeans and saw that I had tore a hole into the knees of my trousers. I sighed, as that meant I had to repair them when I got home.

"You should be more careful. Also, that look suits you." James said, saying the last part with a little smile as he begun walking towards the high street. I smiled back a real smile this time, as I followed him. At least he did care about my general health, something that many others probarly didn't, mostly hinting at my step mother; if i can even call her that. If I had my way I would rather call her the wicked witch of the earth, but i'm sure that I would be copy righting a book if I had.

"My road, Bye." James had said quickly as he begun to walk down Skinner street. I had looked at his walking figure confused, he had never said it quickly. And he was walking away quickly, I wondered if everything was alright at his house, or maybe something bad happened, and he didn't want to tell me. Who knew, I didn't thats for sure. I sighed as I whispered a bye back and begun to walk up lower canterbury street.

There was a quicker way to get to my house. But I always walked this way, it was something I did, plus I always walked with James to Skinner street until he had to go. I walked onto Stafford street afterwards, it would only be a short walk through the quiet street, as I had to turn off at College avenue so I could get to Vicarige Road, where I lived on.

Taking another ten minutes to get to my house, I pulled out my house key and put it into the lock. Opening the door and entering I took off my shoes in the porch, and kept my shoulder bag on my shoulder. Opening the second door after closing the first I entered into the house and saw my father doing some paper work on his lap with his reading glasses on.
"Hi dad." I said quietly to him as he looked up from his paper work and smiled slightly at me.
"Hello Banafrit. Was college ok?" He asked me as I dropped my shoulder bag onto the floor next to the sofa and nodded my head slightly.

He continued to smile and then went back to his paper work. I begun to head for the stairs, as I had some coursework from the other night that needed to be finished for the next day. Half way up the wood stairs I spotted my step mother at the top, looking at me with an eyebrow raised.
"Why are you home late?" She asked me harshly as I raised an eyebrow at her.
"I was in the libary doing some work." I told her quietly, I was always quiet in the house, which was one of the reasons that made my father smile.

She shook her head and started to come down the stairs as I moved to the left side to let her through. I sighed again to myself and continued to go up to my bedroom. I wanted to ring someone as well, but I was having trouble deciding who I should ring. Unlocking my bedroom door I entered that and then closed the door and locked it again.

Going towards my desk I turned on my lamp and saw the coursework. It was on animal nursing, and luckly I was nearly done. I saw my mobile on my desk, I had left it at home to charge as it died this morning. I picked it up and leaned back on my chair, I decided that I was going to ring my nan. I knew that I could talk to her in confidence, without her spilling anything to either of my parents, as I knew that she still had contact with my mother, even if I didn't.
