Love at first sight. Romeo and Juliet fell in love that way. Sleeping Beauty and her prince. Cinderella. The Little Mermaid. So many countless others in books, myths, movies and even in life. Heck, my friggin' best friend, the ever bubbly Rosie fell in love with her first boyfriend because they both reached for the same worksheet in English class. A week later they broke up. "We were too different! He was a dog-lover, I love cats! It wouldn't have gone anywhere!" she had sighed.
"Love" is soo fickle. All she had were horomones clouding her judgement and her primal instincts were only telling her "Jump this one! Jump this one! He seems fertile!" Of course in modern society there's all this "love" crap. It's just a whole bunch of chemicals telling you to "carry on your DNA" by getting it down.
That's all. So how could anyone build a whole relationship on a glance, or a stare for those with no experience in flirting? It's BS, I'm telling you.
Most people should know this, or at least those who jump the gun early and end up sitting next to this person and you suddenly realize you know nothing about them. They're cute. What else? Zilch. Nada. It then comes to you that this person bores you and you "fall out of love".
Is this "love" so weak, so fragile? This thing that inspires art, liteature, that gives the will to a soldier to live on? How could people give up on it so easily? When that same person, if you gave them a chance or gotten to know them, would have turned out to be an avid supporter of animal rights, like you? Could have things been different?
So many questions I ask of this emotion that seems impossible, unfathomable.
So love being as breakable as it looks, how could one look decide it for you?
Romeo and Juliet's tragic and romantic death, the mermaid's sacrifice, a sculllery maid's one night adventure with a stranger prince-these are acts of love. Was it worth it? Was there eternal life for the both of them on the other side? Was the prince worth more than your life? Was the stranger the man you thought??
Love at first sight! It's true that your senses can decieve you. Don't people realize this?? It drives a cynic crazy!!
Rosie, though, says this "I know that I have not loved. Even I'm not that naive.- Don't laugh Susan-But I open my heart because when the right one comes along I want to be ready. I want to know the difference. There will be a 'zing', a spark, electricity-whatever it is- a sense of being whole when he is there. I'm betting on knowing the difference."
I just laughed at her of course. Betting on "knowing the difference"?
That's a joke, right? Love at first sight 'zings', sings, fires, warms, "completes you"? Yeah, sure. Love at first sight is chemical imbalances created by the brain that can easily be imitated by chocolate. And chocolate doesn't talk either, so it's a bonus.
So, knowing all this, why is there a "feeling" sitting next to Dmitri Clark?
Who, by the way, bugs and annoys the hell out of me? Isn't it annoyance? Anger? Hate? Since the first time he introduced himself so outrageously(he put gum on my chair.Gum. HE claims it was on accident and he had meant Gregory Freidman to sit there. My name ws on the damn table. So yeah, sure you did.) and I snarked at him, and since then, it was there. So, love at first sight, can't be possible right? Logically? And scientifically? With the bane of your existence?
Even if he has the best dimples i have ever seen? Love at first sight? Hah! No way!

- that is so true!! I have a guy like (what's his name?) Demitri Clark in my school, and it was DEFINATELY not love at first sight. But he's sweet in an odd way, and you like him, like, like him, but it wasn't love at first sight, not a chance. <3
