• Chapter one

"Come on," I cried, "we don't want to get caught." The moon was bright tonight, wait wasn't tonight supposed to be a full moon? I thought to myself. Figures. I crept silently along the perimeter of the lab. We had no idea what was to come of our "trespass" But, after all, I thought to myself, there wasn't actually a sign saying "NO TRESPASSING" So, we were allowed to be here right? I turned the corner sharply to surprise anyone and take them down. ( I didn't want to do that, but if it was for my safety, then I would do it.) I screamed. So did the person in front of me. "Amy!" I slapped her. "I thought I told you to keep close!" She rubbed her cheek tenderly. "Sorry" she said quietly. "Lets get out of here before someone comes." To late. "HEY," said a stranger in the distance, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" We both started to run. Left. Right. Another right. Left. I checked the doors along our path. "Here Amy, this one's open. Come on get inside." Remember that phrase? It's quiet in here, too quiet. That's exactly how it felt then. Amy closed the door behind her and all of a sudden there was a flash of light and I heard something fall to the ground with a 'thunk'. "Amy where are y--" Thunk.

    Chapter two

I felt cold. Cold and wet. I tried to open my eyes, But they were weak. What had happened? Something about a lab and there was a bright light. Ugh… this was to confusing to think about right now. Maybe after I slept for a little while longer…

"Lilly," sobbed Amy, "Wake up, please!" My eyes fluttered for a few seconds and then they fully opened. "Amy? Is that you?" I cried out to no one in particular. "Yes." Amy muttered. You see, Amy has always been the quiet one. It's been that way ever since her mother and father passed away when she turned seven. My family took her in and we've been as close as sisters ever since. I tried to move my head in the direction in which she was talking. I tried and failed. "Amy, can you move your head?" I could hear her struggling with whatever was keeping our heads from moving. "No." She whispered to me. "Darn…" I whispered to myself.

Just them, Amy and I became stiff. Click. Click. Click. We heard the sound of someone's shoes on the floor. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" said a man whose voice sounded vaguely familiar. "The girls said it was an easy trap." Easy? All they did was blind us by light and take us here. Big whop. Besides, we didn't have it coming for us. I thought. I decided to make my move. "What do you want with us?" I said, not to innocent and not to rough I hoped. He laughed one of those weird evil sounding laughs. "What do I want with you? That was a joke right? It was a funny one too." I could hear him walking around where Amy was and he paused. "Aw this one has such a cute child's face." I could hear him flipping through pages in a book. "Yes…," he said with satisfactory, "Very good."

He started to walk again. With every step closer he took to me I could feel my heart beat so viciously that I was surprised he couldn't hear it. Then he stopped. Flipped through some pages without saying a word. "Ah," he said finally, "this must be the leader." "Why weren't the others with you? Where are they. Tell me…now." I scoffed. "The others? There are no other. It was just Amy and me there." He wasn't very pleased with this, I could tell. Then everything went blank.

    Chapter three

Oh everything was just grand wasn't it. I was in a forest. Amy was with me too. We were running through it, having fun. It was sunny outside but because of all the trees, there was hardly any sun. Whops. I accidentally tripped bringing Amy down with me. I expected to hit the hard ground of the forest but it seemed like we were falling for so long. I wanted to scream but I found that I couldn't talk at all. I tried to get Amy's attention but she wasn't falling with me. She had landed safely on the forest ground. "Amy!" I tried to say. It came out more like a squeak. A hand came and pulled me to safety. Not Amy's hand. No. Not anyone I knew. Someone in a black cape and a mask. He was very enigmatic. I liked that. Just when I thought I was safe I started to fall again.

I screamed. "Ah, having nightmares?" said the man with the evil laugh. "You," I panted, "Why did you bring me here? And where is Amy?" He thought on this for a while and then said, "She is somewhere a lot more safe…" "A lot more safe?" I repeated becoming angrier by the minute. "Look, I need you to trust me Lilly. This is very important. I recently found this." I was bewildered on what was happening, but I took the two letters anyhow.

    September 21, 2020

I think someone is coming. I'm not sure but I can't be too long. They're coming for us. I can sense it. Tell me if Lilly is fine, she is probably scared to death by them. Oh no, someone's coming. I must go now. Take care of our daughter. Send someone for me. Please hurry.

    Love,

    Abigail

    October 4, 2020

I received you letter just yesterday. I don't have much so say. I do hope you receive my letter. I have missed you dearly. Lilly is safe. So is Amy. My dear friend has then both. I shall send for you. Be patient..

    Love,

    Luther

I had to read the letters twice to understand it fully. I finally found my voice. "Where did you find these?" I asked in a weak voice. "That my dear," he said soothingly, "is confidential." I accepted that. I had a million questions to ask him. "First off, why did you act like that if your really a friend." "Well," he began, "it was for a cover, just in case you really weren't who I thought you were, I had a chance to throw you back where I plucked you from the ground like a daisy. I know your probably wondering why I had to go through that process of blinding you and then taking you here. That can be answered with the first question. It was a cover. Oh, and there aren't any other girls that came a took you, that was all me."

Now it was my turn to digest all that he had told me. "Where is Amy…" I said, "if you're a friend I want to see Amy." He looked at me sternly for a second or two and fiddle with his tie for a while. It looked as if I could see the droplets of sweat on his face. I started to panic. "Tell me where Amy is." Two security guards then walked in blocking the door that was my only exit ticket. "Amy is here, at my house. She's fine." he said.

    Chapter four

He kept me in his lair for a while longer when I came out I felt like someone had put a spell on me. Apparently this was his house and I was to be staying here with Amy. I hadn't fully explored it yet. I went to the kitchen first, well, not technically first, I went to his office first. Ohh I did so want to see Amy. I had met the chef, he seemed pretty nice. I then spotted Amy. "Ohh Amy!" I almost shouted. She seemed like someone had put a spell on her also. "L-Lilly, he's our…our…" she started. "Our grandfather I know Amy. Isn't it wonderful? He said his name was Carlos. I'm going to have to get used to that." said Lilly. Amy had a look on her. Not a dazed look. Not tired. Definitely not happy, but more like terrified. "Lilly," she whispered, "I don't trust him…I don't trust him at all."

I studied her face for a few seconds. How could she not trust him? He seemed fine and he told us the only reason why he captured us was because someone, someone who was bad was trying to do the same thing. Was she crazy? "Umm…lets go check out the maids see if they know anything." I said instead of answering her last comment. We didn't have to walk long to find a maid, for there were tons around here. It was like he was some multi-millionaire. "Excuse me miss, we were wondering if you knew what was going on around here?" I asked innocently. She had a rough face and short black hair. She looked like she was about four feet. "What you wanna know 'bout my boss?" she asked suspiciously. Amy replied this time. "Oh no miss, we were just wondering--" she didn't have a chance to finish because someone burst into the house with a big 'BOOM' The next thing we know were being pulled in some secret passageway by one of the maids. "What's going on?" I asked in a loud whisper. We were practically running down the passageway now. "Dun you ask me no question." she replied, sounding more frantic and scared than before. I immediately shut my mouth. "Finally," said a vaguely familiar voice. "you're here." I stared at him with a blank face wondering where I had seen him from. The floor dropped to an underground passageway. "Ladies first." he gestured with his hand for us to go down.

We followed the maid obediently. "Miss," I said as I touched her arm when we had gotten down to the bottom, "we still don't know your name." She hesitated to answer but the mysterious man didn't. "Her name is Sicily, isn't it?" he said rhetorically. Just then my grandfather came down the stairs panting. He didn't seem to notice the strange man next to Amy. "Nicely done Sicily, nicely done." he said. Then it happened all over again. A bright light came, although this light wasn't as bright as the last one. I could barely see the two figures clawing each others eyes out. Except hardly as girlish sounding. I heard something fall to the ground with a 'thunk'. Another thunk and the maid went down. Déjà vu. Thunk.

    Chapter five

I remember, yes. It was a dream. He was in my dream. The enigmatic man in a lack cape and a mask. He saved me. But he didn't. He attacked my grandfather. Oh no, where was he. He was so very old wasn't he. Yes, very old and then that man, that monster of a person attacked him once grandfather blinded everyone with light, but it was for him, so he could get a start. It didn't work, he knew. He was the one who was going to capture Amy and me! I've got to help grandfather! I have to!

"Lilly," said a mans voice, "its alright. Wake up. He wont be coming back anymore." I opened my eyes only to find that there he was. The one who attacked my grandfather. I tried to run but he held me back. "Lilly, hold on a minute!" he said. "I'm not the person you should be worried about. It was Carlos. Carlos isn't really your grandfather. He isn't who he said he was at all. He gave you letters I suppose. Those were fake. Your mother and father are fine." I nodded. So Amy was really right. How could I have been so stupid! Just when I thought Amy had gone crazy she was right. How could I have been so stupid not to see that? When I built up the courage to speak and said, "What is your name?" He smiled at me. "How could I have been so rude to not even introduce myself?" he said. "My name is Dorian. I am simply here because-- well, I will tell you about that later. I need you to believe me first before I can tell you.

Oh and I almost forgot, Amy is fine. She doesn't remember a thing. The last thing she remembers in you getting on a plane to go to boarding school. You can contact her anytime you like." Everything was beginning to digest in my system and frankly, I didn't understand anything he was talking about. But I nodded anyhow. "You are my soul mate. You are me. I am you. You were born in 1990 January 1st? Am I correct?" he asked simply. Again, I nodded. This time my eyes almost bulging out of my eye sockets. "So is mine," he continued, "There are many more things that are the same about us. Our parents names are the same. Luther and Abigail. I need you, Lilly, to believe me. I need you to trust me.

Were not only soul mates but we both have the same thoughts almost all of the time. Our kind is not like another kind. There are many of us all around the world. You aren't immortal but you aren't human. Think of yourself as an angel. Were more like angels. Now Carlos's task is to destroy all of us because bring happiness to the world. We make everything right. He was like us Lilly, but he turned to the dark side. Now Lilly, take my hand." he said. My whole body was shaking. "I believe you" I said. "I know." he replied. I took his hand and we walked into the peaceful bright light. "Don't let me fall to far next time." And then I smiled at him remembering the dream, not nightmare, we both had shared.
