• Chapter Two
I heard the wind of the bar hit and something cling as I opened my eye. Keitaro had his back towards me, holding the metal bar in his hand and his head staring at the floor. How did he even get in here…? I asked to myself. I looked at the window; the broken and scratched out bars. I looked at the back of his head and felt tears well up in my eyes. Why would he risk his life to save me? I asked myself. He threw the metal bar against the brick walls as it shattered into a million pieces. My father ran out of the cell in a second as Keitaro fell on his knees. I ran in front of him and saw he had sprouted wolf ears on the top of his head.
    "A wolf demon…"
I whispered, wide-eyed. Keitaro shook his head slightly then looked at me. His eyes like a wolf, he blinked as they became normal and his wolf ears disappeared.
    "Tenshiko…"
He finally said. I gave him a hug and closed my eyes.
    "Thank you…"
I whispered hugging him tighter. I pulled away and he blushed a bit as I smiled.
    "You’re free now, right?"
He asked getting up and walking towards the window. I sighed before responding.
    “He could still find me…”
I mumbled looking at the floor. He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the window.
“But if you stay here, he’ll kill you…”
He said softly. I smiled a bit as we climbed out the window. I inhaled the fresh air once landing on the dirt path as Keitaro lit a cigarette. I pulled it out and threw it on the floor.
“You really want to die, don’t you?”
I said starting to walk up the only path. He followed me quickly then asked:
    “Where are we going?”
    I laughed a bit.
    “Your house.”
I said looking at him. He went in front of me and made me stop in my tracks.
    “No.”
He said simply. I tilted my head then stretched out my wings. He looked at them again before speaking.
“We can’t go to my house. My dad has a strict ‘no girl’ policy.”
He said looking into my eye. I blushed slightly then looked away.
“Then where am I supposed to go…?”
I asked, my voice sad. He sighed a bit.
    “I guess I’ll have to hide you…”
He said smiling a bit. I smiled too as we kept walking towards his house. We finally got to there after about twenty minutes of a walk. He looked in a window before going towards the front door.
“Good, looks like no one’s home.”
He said unlocking the door with his keys. We snuck in, past the living room and heard some sort of giggle. We looked over at the couch where a cute little girl with long black hair smiled.
    “Oh… Aiko, you’re home.”
    Keitaro said oddly.
    “Who’s Aiko…?”
    I whispered to Keitaro.
    “My little sister.”
    He said walking towards her.
    “Who’s that, big brother?”
She said cutely. She got up from the couch, looking over at me. I blushed and looked away.
“She’s just a friend. Listen; please don’t tell Dad that she’s here. Someone is looking for her and we have to hide her.”
Aiko smiled and nodded. Keitaro sighed of relief and showed me around the house. He shares a room with his little sister, but he still has enough room for himself. It was divided in half, his bed on the left and her bed on the right. I looked around, and then walked back into the living room with Keitaro. Suddenly, all three of us heard footsteps. Aiko and I ran into their bedroom and I hid in the closet, keeping it a bit open to hear what was going on. Aiko had sat on the bed and looked at the closed door. Keitaro had sat down on the couch as if he was watching TV. I heard his father slam the door behind him and stomp over to the kitchen. I couldn’t understand what he was saying, but he sure sounded mad. The little girl sighed. I came out, and sat on Keitaro’s bed, looking at her.
“Why are you dressed like that? Your clothes all torn up… And what happened to your eye?”
She asked, tilting her head slightly. I looked away, wondering if I should tell her what really happens.
“Oh… Well, I haven’t really got the time to go shopping… I’ve been wearing this for two years now… And my eye, uhm... It was just an accident...”
I said, trying not to make eye contact with her. I wasn’t the best liar, but if it was to save my a**, I could be the best there ever was. She nodded, completely buying my story. I sighed a bit, wondering if my father knew I was gone. I glanced towards her as she was staring at her feet.
“Can you tell me what really happened?”
She asked blankly, looking up at me again. Her gaze was confusing, I didn’t know if she was mad or lost.I blinked in confusion then tried to find something to say. Before I could say anything, we heard a crash coming from the living room. She looked at the door then back at me, her eyes wide, shocked and scared. Without even thinking, we both ran out of the room. We saw Keitaro on his hands and knees, heavy breathing and the glass on the floor, for the living room window had been broken. His sister ran towards him and kneeled as well, asking if he was okay. I looked at the window, a hand slowly gripping the frame. My eye opened wider as I backed away. The man slowly pulled himself up, and shook the glass out of his half gray hair. I tried hiding behind the first thing I found, but it was too late. He saw me.
    “You’re going to die, Tenshiko.”
His voice made me shake. I knew that voice, it was the one I feared the most. Keitaro managed to get up and limb towards me. He turned his back, spreading out his arms and trying to breathe. I felt like I was going to faint or drop dead. Things were happening so fast I forgot to notice the wolf-like ears on Keitaro’s head. The man approached us as Aiko ran behind me and grabbed onto my shorts. I put a hand on her head as she looked up at me with tears in her eyes.
    “Who is that man?”
She asked, her voice shaken. I looked up at him as he stopped a few feet away from us.
    “Move over, little boy.”
The man said, his voice getting rustier. He pushed Keitaro to the floor. I moved Aiko behind me as he reached out for my halo.
