• As the sun was setting a boy, that went by the name of Dirk Adams, roamed slowly around the town. His wife, who he had recently married about five years before, was waiting at home for his return, but he got this hut wrenching feeling telling him that he probably wouldn’t make it back home. No matter how much he wanted to believe that his job as a Night Slayer, basically a vampire hunter, was safer for him because of his changeling side. Sadly, he knew that just because he was lucky not to die when the Chupacabra bit him, didn’t mean that he was going to be invincible.

He had found that out when he was nearly beaten to death by the man that went by the name of Patterson. He was a prime which was when you died and came back as a full fledge vampire that couldn’t come out into the day without being turned to stone. He found it surprisingly better to be a changeling for he got the powers of a vampire and someone of the advantages of being human. Although, he always had to keep in mind that if he took blood from a human it would have to be willingly given or he would die. Then again he only took blood from his wife and only on curtain occasions.

With a simply shake of his head, he brought his thoughts about what was happening at this time, at this moment. He was looking for a new threat to this area that went by the name of Jonson. Jonson was not an ex Navy Seal like Patterson was, but he wasn’t that great of a person to mess with, or so he had recently come to think.

Jonson towered over Dirk, who wasn’t a short man, had a muscular body due to all the fighting and working out he would do in both in his human life and in his vampire life. He also had been trained in several martial arts, mastering all of them in a short person of time, but the biggest threat about him was his wits. He was a genius, literally. He was actually one of the smartest men in this world, which meant that he could be sneaky.

Dirk ran a hand through his light colored hair before letting his deep blue eyes scan the area around him. There was absolutely no sign of Jonson. Where could he be? Then something hit Dirk and it made him want to smack himself for not thinking. It wasn’t dark yet, there was no way that Jonson would be out. Unlike Dirk, who had stayed alive during the change, Jonson had not. He had died, nearly instantly once the fangs broke Jonson’s spine.

With a sigh he looked around at the park were he had been standing for some time now and finally noticed that the sun was completely dark, so maybe Jonson was planning on bringing his a** over to this park right about now.

Out of no where, Dirk’s legs gave out and he collapsed onto the harsh ground below, his eyes wide in shock. What had just happened? Never before had something like this happened. Usually his legs only gave out if he was tired and he had just go up from sleeping for a little under twelve hours. There was no way that he was tired after all that sleep?

“Dirk?” The soft female voice sliced through the air, making Dirk’s eyes grow larger, if that was even possible.

“Beth! Get out of he-” Before he could finish his sentence he spotted someone’s foot land right next to where his head rested on the ground. Jonson?!

“Oh, look. I’m going to have to much fun.” A harsh, raspy voice came from above Dirk. Dirk pushed himself to his feet, his muscles aching. Why was his body acting this way? “My my, no need to have that horrid expression on your face my dear Dirk. After all you will lose conscious so you won’t watch your lovely wife die. Believe me, I am not that cruel.”

“What?” Dirk barked, his body slowly wanting to give out on him again. Bethany, stood behind him, asking nonsense that he could barely make out. “What are you planning Jonson?” He muttered through clenched teeth. He couldn’t take this right now. His wife was in danger, his body was a wreck, and Jonson was standing only feet away. This was not going to be a good night. His feeling about dieing tonight, might be right after all.
