• Her snow white hair cascaded like a waterfall down her back, her porcelain skin cool and clear, her hair framed her stern, cold-hearted eyes the color of a blue much lighter than turquoise. She listlessly twirled a jagged clear knife with a carefully carved hilt that looked like glass between her delicate finger tips. Her icy eyes strayed to her comrades, they played a skillful game of chess using pieces Terra had made her self. One of the girls comrades, a beautiful girl with dark blue, wavy locks and a soft face grinned maliciously as she knocked Terra's king out with a carefully placed knight.
" Check, mate." The blue haired girl announced while looking up through her thick dark eye lashes, letting her voice inflict an undertone.
" Aqua, that's so not fair!" Terra objected.
" No, you fail to observe the more delicate details." Aqua corrected.
Terra's thick mud brown hair bounced as she turned her head to the girl with white hair, Terra's hair was shorter than the others, a careless hair cut between ear and shoulder length. She put it as, " More convenient".
Terra complained childishly, " Glace! Isn't that not fair?!"
" No, Aqua is correct. You need to be more careful of where you are and what your assets are." Glace stated blandly.
Terra's forest eyes looked slightly hurt by the taste of rejection, but said nothing. She instead changed the subject by asking," How are we gonna to get into the Institute?"
Glace stated through an evil leer," We'll show them how great our 'talents' really are."
Three nimble moving figures scaled the tall stone wall, the sentries clearly unaware of the breach in security. A pale figure with long hair that was white that reminded many of strands of snow flakes billowing in the wind knocked down a guard whom came down with a sickening 'thump'. The frightened guard looked up at the soulless face of his assailant. A unmoved, calloused face stared back. Her long fingers held his jaw and the back of his head.
The guard recognized this technique, it is used in the army to snap the victims neck. The guard pleaded uselessly for his assailants, my, mercy.
I whispered, " Bon voyage, diable." and with an earsplitting snap I forcefully twisted his neck, ending his life. I gazed down the length of the stone wall to see a lack of previous sentries... which was odd, Aqua and Terra weren't to touch the guards, unless necessary. I waited for the signal and sure enough where Aqua was pinpointed to breach the wall, there were four flashes. There has been a disruption, but we were to continue our plan.
I gently dove into the air, somersaulted and landed lightly, completely unharmed. I glared at the chateau, its uneasy air about it made its dark appearance even spookier. All it need was a lightning storm to finish off the mood. I edgily walked to the edge of the medieval moat watching the dark water sparkle under a dark night sky. I half expected alligators. This place... this, this castle has a name. A name she could not remember no matter how hard she tried. None of the girls could. They knighted it, "The Institution", because thats a place you do research, right? But was I research? All I know for sure is I'm not supposed to be like this, I'm not supposed to be able to freeze things. Neither should Aqua be able to manipulate water or Terra be able to manipulate rocks. But the guy who owns this place did this to us. Now is the time to show him how fabulous his creations are.
My gaze turned to see Aqua and Terra approach, arguing as they walked, in the distance I heard Aqua say," You shouldn't have hit him like that,"
" Look, I'm sorry I'm willing to take action," Terra said unfazed. She added as an after thought," Unlike you."
Aqua flushed with uncontrollable anger and with a flick of her wrist she flung water from the moat, soaking Terra. Terra growled deeply, exposing perfect, shiny, canines. Glace simply silenced their squabble with a stern "NO."
Glace continued," What took you so long?" Her thin eyebrows furrowed in disappointment.
Terra reported immediately," Something else is at work here, ma'am. Most of the sentries are dead or disabled." Terra's posture took on a military like stance, waiting for Glace's response.
Glace stated sincerely," You know how I feel about the title 'ma'am,'"
Aqua smirked knowingly and stated, " Lets just hope they are the head honcho's enemy, not ours."
" Yeah, right, Aqua. How can you get a nemesis? I mean, you hesitate to interrogate a guard!" Terra responded. Lets just say Terra and Aqua had different social opinions.
"Are you two going to keep on bickering or are we going into the Institution?" I asked with my patience wearing thin.
They shut up and Terra bended a makeshift bridge out of the rock wall of the chateau, and our little posse walked across according to rank, Glace first, then Terra, then Aqua. They observed their very medieval fairy tale like surroundings, there were suits of Armour and great thread tapestries hanging on the walls. This should have been a museum, not some twisted man's research facility. But where was the actual lab? He must have hid it, because I'm sure genetic mutation without a warrant is illegal, meaning it'd have to be well enough hidden that inspectors would not find it... or someplace no one wants to look.
" Where is it? I mean, if your going to bring on the Sci Fi freakishness, why hide it?" Terra asked obviously neither of them had decided to think to thoroughly about it.
" How about, well maybe genetic mutation on humans is illegal?!" I snapped.
"Maybe we should split?" Terra slowly suggested.
" No, because if I left you two on your own you'd do something stupid," I stated, and this statement is probably totally true. I added, " but our best bet is looking in places no one wants to look."
" The sewer?" Aqua asked. I should have thought of that...
" The old sewer." Terra decided, redeeming herself against Aqua.
" Nice work, Terra," I praised, I added, "where's the bathroom?"
" What do you mean?" Terra asked.
" The old one, you dolt," Aqua sighed.
" If your so smart, Aqua, where is it?" I asked irritably. I hated it when they did this, but it made them come up with ideas faster. Neither of them is dumb, but sometimes their competitive nature against each other gets in the way of their job.
    "Uhmmm..." Aqua moaned.
" As I thought," I replied curtly, then I answered for her," we go under."
I exhaled, trying to banish the unsavory stench of the oldest sewer, but it was better than what they used to use for waste management before they had sewers. My nose puckered as I thought the odor unbearable. Of coarse Aqua and Terra were still at their ridiculous bickering, the plan wasn't falling through as expected. There was nothing to be seen except a void of nothing and filth. Nothing. Nothing but a slight breeze that wafted a disgusting smell towards our group. Wait. A breeze? We are nowhere near where this sewer would dump its waste, a river or like body of water. So where would the breeze be coming from?
    " Shhh," I said sternly.
    "What?" Aqua asked irritably.
    " There's a breeze," I stated.
    "So?" Aqua asked hotly.
" It's a sewer, you empty headed oaf." I replied angerly.
" So, why would there be a breeze?" Terra asked.
    "Exactly." I said
I froze over the little water there was in the sewer, creating a clear white glaze on everything. Out of my pocket I drew a zippo and ignited it, because of the ice everything glistened. It was like someone turned on the lights. I walked towards the draft, hearing the other two follow closely behind me. They were surprisingly quiet. Now I faintly saw a light, and it grew larger as we walked nearer. We finally reached the lights source as we entered the research facility. It smelled fowly of harsh chemicals and I heard the pained moans of the evil man's victims that didn't get away. Expensive equipment was everywhere and everything was so white it hurt my eyes.
