• Chapter 1

    "But mom! Please!"
"No, Stephanie, you’re not going on a date with that boy."
"Fine" I huffed. "But what do you have against animas?"
"Well for one, they’re greedy. Number two, haven’t you heard of their plan to ‘eliminate all humans’ and number three; I don’t want those filthy things near you."
"Mom, the guy I am dating is only one hundred seventy years old…which is equal to seventeen in anima years. He’s just a kid. So what if he can turn into an invisible dragon?"
"For the last time, you’re not going. So can you just shut up already?"
I huffed and started twirling my hair. This is so unfair, I thought to myself. I just hated how my parents would always force there opinions on me. Since my dad works for the government, who hates the anima government, I can’t have anything to do with them. Personally, I see nothing wrong with animas. They stay far away from humans. They never hurt any of us. They practically live in another world.
Secretly, I was fascinated by them when I was a kid. I had dreamed of the day I could see a dragon. Trust me, that dream hasn’t died. The only problem is that when animas are in their dragon form, humans can’t see them. I think it has something to do with that fact ‘humans aren’t magical’ which is so lame.
After a moment of silence, I said to my mom "Can I at least go to a friend’s house to finish a project."
"Okay" My mom looked straight into me. "But promise you will be back by eight, k?"
Looks like I am going on that date after all.

    Chapter 2
I met him by my school’s football field. At first things started off really awkward but after a while I loosened up. I guess I was really nervous going on a date with such a cute guy. Then again all animas are beautiful.
After a couples minutes, Skylar (that’s his name) threw me into his car and drove me far away. When I asked him where we were going, he simply answered ‘We’ll see’.
"So what is it like being an anima?" I asked Skylar, twirling my hair.
"That’s what your about to find out." My heart jumped up. My childhood dream was finally coming true. As the wind from the window rushed in and smacked me in this face, I could only feel a burst of excitement.
For the rest of the car ride, I bombarded Skylar with questions. What’s your favorite band? What kind of sports do you play? I wanted to know everything about him and he wanted to know everything about me. Turns out, Skylar and I have a lot in common.
Suddenly, Skylar stopped the car. He got out and followed him. But he just keep running and running, until it was just me and him in an open field.
Miles and Miles of the forest had been cleared, exposing the green grass and soft rolling hills. There was not a cloud in the bright blue sky. Not a single tree. Even the road was far away, almost beyond site. There was nothing, except for me and Skylar.
Skylar was silent. The wind blew his black hair away from his face, exposing his bright green eyes. Looking closer, I noticed his eyes had flecks of grey that grew brighter in time.
    "You ready?"
I nodded yes, while he slipped a golden bracelet into my hands. "You need this to see me." Skylar whispered. "It will make you invisible to."
Slowly, I slipped the bracelet onto my small arms. Skylar brushed his hand across my face then took off running deeper into the open field.
Then he was gone. He had exploded.
A dark creature—massive--literally the length of a FOOTBALL FIELD remained in his place.

    Chapter 3
The creature slowly rose from the ground, until he blocked out the sun completely. Then the creature started the fly faster, until he became nothing but a giant blur. It took less then a second for Skylar to fly all across the wide open field. When Skylar was finished flying around he stopped.
Skylar surpassed the height of the average skyscraper. He had a fat round body, short legs and feet with jagged yellow claws. His wings were bat-like. He had a tiny (compared the rest of him it was tiny) head set at the top of his long skinny neck. Slowly Skylar started to lie on his stomach. From a distance, I watched him, shaking.
"Hop on" whispered a voice in my head.
    "WHAT!" I screamed.
"Sorry." The voice said again "I forgot to tell you…anima can only communicate telepathically."
Shaking even more, I forced my wobbly legs to come closer to the dragon.
Story books will lie. Dragons don’t have scales. Or at least he didn’t. The skin around his neck appeared to be rough and rock like, taking the appearance of volcano rock. Curious, I forced myself to touch it. It felt as hard as rock but as hot as a furnace. I got black stuff all over my hands when I was done.
After observing, touching and being around the dragon. I finally got comfortable enough to ‘hop on’. So I did.
    Chapter 4
Flying is nothing like a roller coaster ride. You don’t just simply lift up and fly. At first it is slow. At first you only lift away from the ground slowly. At first it seems disappointing.
"Go faster!" I screamed. At first it seemed like Skylar had ignored me but then he pulled his wings up then quickly flapped them back down. I was now high up in the air.
He lifted me higher and higher, until I could barely breathe. The whole time I had my eyes squeezed shut. My arms wrapped tightly around his neck.
"Don’t Worry" His voice was slow "Your not going to fall." I paused, unable to contain my apprehension. Then I opened my eyes.
Panoramic three hundred and sixty degree views of nothing everything. The ground was far below. The gates of heaven were even further, yet I felt I could reach them. I could see miles and miles of the soft green countryside, along with the shoe box suburbs. The leaves were coming off the trees, giving off rainbows from the distance.
"You know when you’re a little kid, and it suddenly gets really cold?"
"Yes." I whispered, gripping his neck closer.
    "Those are dragons."
Then he lifted away. I flew past everything, until I could no longer see the country side. When I was right above my suburb, I could see my school, even my house. But they were shoe boxes. Little individual people were like ants. If only they knew how magnificent the life of an anima was.
Skylar passed my suburb, into the city. The elaborate buildings and skyscrapers didn’t seem as big as they used to. They were so small compared to the rest of the wide open world. Because around the city was a river. Spreading so wide and far, even beyond the river was the ocean. The city was a dirty gray. Skylar was black as soot. Everything else was blue. Except for the grass, which was green. You could see everything for miles and miles and miles. I felt like a goddess. I felt so free. Then I asked Skylar "Why me?"
He whispered back, "Because your you. Your amazing and I like you a lot."
Even though he didn’t know me, I still blushed a lot, while softly brushing his hard skin. I wanted to tell him that there were other girls better then me, but I held back. For a while I just watched the city below pass by. I could have spent the rest of my life like this. Because I felt like everything was so perfect. I have the world. I have Skylar. I have everything.
Again Skylar stopped. His skin suddenly grew super hot. Hot enough to burn me, but I held on. Then there was a rumble in his stomach. His throat shook rapidly, shaking me, making it terribly hard for me to ‘hold on’. Then his throat became fire. I could no longer hold on.
    I fell.
    And Fell…
    and fell even more…
The city become closer. The air was rushing past me. Crashing into my ears. Giving me a massive headache. I was being sucked back into reality. Skylar didn’t save me.
In fact Skylar said "Good luck in hell."
