CR: Part II Silent Memories
-
tab It was another night at the bar for Silent Thunder, the table he was sitting at was littered with empty glasses with a full one directly in front of him. As he was staring into its liquid contents seeing the reflection of his amber eyes his mind wanders to battles of the past, as it usually does when he drinks.
tab One in particular stuck out to him this night, the fight he had with an assassin known as Ghost alongside his friend and fellow General Crimson Sky. He remembered how the fight started as a cat and mouse game with Sky and him chasing Ghost around as she continued to hide every time she was found. Eventually he was able to land a few punches and a kick on Ghost while Sky came up and slashed her with her sword. At this point a new enemy came in giving Ghost time to recover, but Thunder’s mind glazed over that part. When the focus was back to Ghost the resulting fight mimicked the actions of the first. This time it ended with Sky cutting off Ghosts head.
tab A shiver runs down Thunder’s spine as his memory ended, draining the glass in front of him to calm his nerve. Feeling that he’s spent enough time at the bar he gets up and wipes his mouth with his forearm.
tab “Barman a bottle for the road” he bellows toward the skinny man standing behind the bar.
tab “General Thunder I h-h-hate to remind you but your t-t-tab is running high,” the tiny man stutters nervously. “It’s difficult to keep my b-b-bar stocked if customers never pay their t-t-tab.”
tab “Ha ha I like your straight forwardness barman and you are right a man should pay what he owes,” Thunder says has he stumbles toward the bar. “Tell you what tomorrow I will come in with what I owe you along with a little extra,” he drops a small bag full of gold coins on the counter. "Here is an advance," he says.
tab “Really S-S-Sir there is no n-n-need…” the barman starts but is interrupted by Thunder “No I insist!”
tab The barman graciously thanks Thunder handing him a bottle of beer for his walk home. As thunder was stepping out of the bar he felt a small crunch under his foot. Inspecting the area beneath his foot he sees that he has stepped on a cricket. While crickets are not uncommon on the outskirts of the city, but to see one this far in was unusual. Another chill runs its way down his spine, taking a swig from his bottle to brush it off. Now Thunder wasn’t one for being superstitious but he felt like something might be coming tonight, coming for him.
