Chapter II: The Host and the Vampire

Elle rushed out from their house. She was filled with joy to learn that her mother has finally shown signs that she's about to stop bugging her to drink blood. The task might seem easy to relieve her of being a vampire... though it wasn't... Hosts are far too loyal...

She was running along the streets so fast that she did not even look at where she was going. She nearly hit some vampires walking by, but apologized as she ran past them.

Somewhere not far from Elle... a little commotion was happening involving a host and two vampires.

"So, will you let us drink blood now?" asked the black haired vampire girl, "My older sister would give you a nice price if you do."

The host continued walking as the two vampires tailed him and kept begging him for a drink. "This would be the last time I tell! I don't care about any payment because I don't want you two to bite me!" yelled the host furiously as he stared grimly at them.

The host seemed much annoyed by the fact of even being bit by a vampire. A strong sense of dislike for vampires can be well felt from him. The twin sisters kept on giving him better offers, they basically do not feel his annoyance about vampires.

Elle watched closed by, setting her sights up towards the messy brown-haired host with mahogany colored eyes. She peered through the edge of the street, trying to conceal herself from the three's sight. The misty Hemian climate can give anyone a cold as easily as counting from one to three. The host dusted his brown long coat and ran away towards Elle's direction.

He ran incredibly fast and got away from the twin vampires, he turned right to the nearest street and there he bumped into Elle. "The HELL! What are you doing standing like a lamp post here! Can't you see I'm..." Christian felt grim from seeing another vampire, "If you're asking for blood then go find someone else!"

"No! You got me wrong, I do not drink blood" explained Elle, trying hard not to have her ticket out of vampirehood fly away.

"Nice try, but I won't fall for that" replied Christian, looking away and offered a hand to help her stand up, "tsk... vampires..."

A light flush of pink appeared on her fair face. This boy seemed much a little like her... they both hated the destiny of their races. As Christian helped her up slowly, she took time to notice Christian's clothing. It does not seem to look Hemian... somewhat strange for a host. It wasn't old fashioned nor new to the vampire fashion statements.

The host wore a brown long coat over a plain black t-shirt, black cargo pants and a pair of black rubber shoes. This was the first time she saw such articles of clothing in contrast to her black Gothic dress with frills and laces. It seemed much that it was of some sort of generation gap.

"Mr. Host, can you help me with something?" asked Elle, Christian looked away every second they talked with each other. He must somehow be... quite uneasy to see someone this cute and pure.

"I could not possibly help you in terms of blood" replied Christian, clutching his fists in anger, "Hosts do not deserve to be like this... we're superior in terms of many aspects..."

He was referring to his grim past... a past that has yet to happen...

"No! I really do not intend to drink blood from you... I really don't drink..." explained Elle, a whistle came from behind her telling her not to spill it out.

"Elle Rosewood! I told you not to tell that secret outside of the house!" said a familiar voice from behind her. It was Keira, her mother... weariness visible in her face as she saw her daughter.

"Mother! I finally found a host who thinks he's better than vampires!" announced Elle, silently rejoicing that she does not need to bother bringing Christian home.

Keira was a bit saddened by this. She really expected that Elle could not find even a single host is the whole world who'll say such things. She turned her eyes towards Christian and felt the long held hatred in him...

"It is true indeed..." thought Keira to herself, a chill went down her spine as she felt such grave intentions.

A horse drawn carriage stopped by in front of them. It was a grand carriage pulled by four jet black horses. A high ranking person must be inside so Keira and Elle faced the carriage and waited for someone to come out.

A young teenage girl of about seventeen to eighteen years of age came out from the carriage. Elle and Keira greeted her with utmost respect, "Duchess Alice... why are you here in a place like this.

"I would gladly thank you Mrs. Rosewood for finding him for me, now if you may... guards! seize this host!" commanded Alice, a malicious glow appeared from her mahogany colored eyes that bear great resemblance with Christian's. The guards took him away, he neither tried to run away or fight. Keira and Elle just watched... unable to do anything as the carriage drove away.
