• As Max and I got on the bus, I noticed everyone staring, but he didn't seem to notice. He was busy staring at me, "So Brittany. Would you like to go see a movie this weekend?"
    I looked up at Max, "Like a date?!"
    "Well..Yeah. Only if you want though. I understand if you don't wanna seeing as how you just broke up."
    I felt my smile widen, "Sure! I mean if my folks'll let me. I'll meet you at the crossroads, about a block away from the theater?"
    Max started to get up, and I realized this was his stop, "Sure thing! Meet ya there!". The rest of the day, I was to dazed to notice anything until my mom noticed.
    I told her of the break-up with Tyler and how Max asked on a date. She, of course, knew all about Max and was really happy for me. She said I could go on the date so long as I was home by ten, " Yes! Thanks, Mom! I'll go call Max." I ran down the hall to get the phone and punched in Max's number. It rang five times then went to a messenger machine; I hung up, "That's strange. Max always answers his phone. Oh well...he must be out somewhere. I'll just tell him tomorrow at school."

    That was my intention, but to my dismay, Max was not there. Worried that he might be sick, I offered to take his homework to him. That afternoon, I had gathered all his books and assignments, and got on the bus. Once again everyone was staring I noticed Evelyne coming to sit with me, "Evelyn why is everyone staring at me like yesterday?"
    "Brittany, you're with one of the cutest and popular boys in school. Plus you're taking his homework to him. Don't you expect them to stare?"
    "Well, not really," I said, and Evelyne turned to stare, "I mean I'm not 'with' anyone yet."
    "YET?! What are you two going on a date?!" Evelyne demanded, shocked. Once again everyone was staring. The bus was slowing down..this was Max's house.
    "Something like that," I responded as I walked down the aisle of the bus. That outta keep her mind busy 'till tonight, I thought to myself. I waled up the porch steps and rang the doorbell.
