• I woke up with the same recuring headache that I'd had for the past two years scince... "they'd" left. I winced as I rolled over and a new wave of pain swept over me the headache was my own fault I got it from crying myself to sleep every night. But how could I help it? They were like family to me and then they had left those Vampires of mine. I squeezed my eyes shut tight as I remembered that day in the wheat field and..." Kelly...sweetie are you up?" I rolled over and the pain hit me again but I ignored it my mom was peering in my room. " Yeah mom I'm up" she had been worried about me ever scince the night I brought home Seraina's car and never was happy again. " Do you want breakfast..I made pancakes..your favorite." she smiled weakly I knew I had been exhausting lately but I didnt care. " Um...no I'm not really hungry mom." she frowned " You know Christine you really should eat more your losing wait...fast." "Christine" she called me by my real name instead of my nickname when she was upset with me, she had never liked the name Kelly but she had wanted me to have a nickname and I hated the name Chrissy so she settled for Kelly. " I'll eat more I promise mom I just..." I shrugged. She sighed " Well at least get up, get dressed, and go out and do something! You havent done anything scince..." she stopped " I'm sorry Kelly I didnt meen..." I narrowed my eyes "Fine I'll go out some place." she sighed then shut my door and left. Accutally I was glad she had brought it up because there was a place I wanted to go but could never bring myself to, the field. So I got up showered, pulled on a grey T-shirt and jeans grabbed the keys to Seraina's car (no matter how long I had that car it would always be hers) and left. Even after two years i hadnt forgotten the road to the field it was etched into my memory and soon I pulled up in front of it. I turned the key in the ignition and the engine stopped purring.It was a grey cloudy day I gripped the steering wheel as I stared out at the field the last place I'd seen them I scanned the edge of the wheat for the log that me and Seraina had sat on that night. Eventualy I found it I just sat there for a few hours and looked at the place were my life had ended. Then I noiticed somethig I hadnt before which surpriesed me because I'd been watching it for so long. There was a note a folded up peice of paper on the log I got out of the car and snatched the note off the log. I gasped when I opened it Seraina had written it I could tell by the perfect hanwriting it said :
    Dear Kelly,
    I'm sorry we had to leave you we really truely miss you but it's for the best trust us.
    I hope you kept my car not for me but so you could remember me.We hope that you are happy!

    My head started to spin I knew it was dark and I knew I had to get back home but I couldnt move. When had she written this? Wait! There was a date at the bottom of the paper I looked I hadnt kept track of time or date for so long, but I was almost positive it was todays date. I finally could move I ran to the car and started it and drove home as fast as the speed limit would allow. When I finally got home I flew up the walkway and burst throught the door "Kelly!" my mom screamed "Ware have you been! Your father and I..." I cut her off " Mom! Whats todays date?!" she looked puzzeled and said " W-w-well March...forth..but!" I turned and ran up the stairs. When I got to my room I slammed the door shut and read and re-read the note she had left me. What did she mean it was for the best? Maybe the best for them but not for me and the line ware it read "...so you could remember me..." how could I ferget?! I was frustrated and excited at the same time. Just then my mom opened my door and stepped in. Surpirsed I quickly crumpled the note and tossed it under my bed
    " Kelly ware have you been!? Your father and I have been worried sick, when I said go out I didn't meen for half the night! " she threw up her hands with an exasperated sigh. " I'm sorry mom, but I went to the movies and..and it ran a little late." she just looked at me and sighed " What ever Kelly!" and walked out. I was glad she left now I could think about tracking them down. Somewhere in the back of my mind I knew it was a bad idea that there was no way for me to find a family of vampires,but i would do it anyway. The next day when I woke up I didnt have a headache I still had no idea how I was going to find them though. There was no address on the paper and they had never told me where they were going just simply that they were leaving. So now i had noth....WAIT! someone had left that note there (probably Seraina) would they do it again???? I got up and got dressed quickly, ran downstairs and yelled " Bye mom I'm going out for a bit!" and ran out the door before she could respond. I jumped into the car and drove out to the wheat field. I had it all planed out in my head...I would sit there parked on the road and watch for as long as it took until saw Seraina. And thats exactly what i did for three hours with no leads as to how the note got there. Just as the digital clock on the dash flashed nine I decide to go home and return tomorrow, but just then somthing or rather someone caught my eye. I jumped out of the car just in time to see a startled Lilly. Her emerald green eyes sparkiling in my headlights and her raven black hair blowing in the wind. " Lilly!" I screamed as I ran into her arms it felt more ike running head-long into a brick wall. She smiled then sighed and said " I thought when I smelled your scent it was just because you came here often." I pulled away from her just enough that I could see her face " I hardly ever come here. Not after..." I let my vioce trail off. For a second she looked truley sorry, and then her face hardened back into surprise at being caught. " It was for the best...at least Seraina thought so." she murmered " And Skyler." she added. I was suddenly upset with them, all of them Seraina for sugesting that they leave, and the rest of her family for doing so. " How could you three think that was best for me! You were...well still are like family to me I wish with all my heart i was born like you." she stared at me more surprise on her face and then said " You wish you were born a monster?" "Yes." her face was again full of emotion, but this time it was anger. " And you could change me and then we realy would be family. And you wouldnt haft to worry about hurting me and..." she growled sharply and said " Seraina will never change you even if we do come back." I was shocked if they came back. That meant there was uncertanty in the descion which meant they could still leave me behind. " I didnt ask Seraina if I could change I asked you." " And what makes you think vampires can change humans? huh? Just because you read some lame scary stories? We were born like this you know." I raised an eyebrow at her " Because you told me your father and mother were once humans." she sighed " What ever she still wont change you. Anyway I guess your woundering why I left thease notes. Because Seraina wouldnt." I looked at her now it was my turn to be surprised "What? Lilly what are you....?" she smiled " You didnt know? Seraina wrote this and the other one you found and about fifty more. She writes them and then puts them in a box. I asked her once why she didnt leave them for you but,...." "But what?" I pressed "But she said no Mom and Dad want to move back but she said no to that to." I gasped "Why didnt you just stay?" she sighed " I dont know...she just.." she quickly changed the subject "..anyway this whole thing hasnt been a total waste. When we were staying in Italy..." my mouth fell wide open "Itlay?" she waved her hand dismissvly "Yes,yes apparently dad used to live there in Ceasers time...anyway Skyler found a mate! He's still in Italy with her." " Wow realy???" it didnt rejester that she was tellin me they were back to stay forever. "Yes her name is Violetta" her pretty little mouth spat out the word. I could tell that she didnt like this Violetta girl. Suddenly a silky voice from behind us said " Oh Lilly you realy shouldnt be so quick to judge her. You to look soo much a like!" Lilly smiled and turned, then I turned to. There leaning up against the car was Seraina. I squeaked and ran to her " Seraina your back! Oh please please please d-d-dont leave m-m-me ag-g-ain!" I was sobbing. She wrapped her arms around me and rubbed my back " I-we wont. I promise." I pulled away from her "Good! Make sure you dont!" finally. I thought. I have those Vampires of mine. Forever.
