“Day after day, nothing ever changes,” he mutters as he listens to his human’s heartbeat inside the house. “ It is always the same boring s**t. Protect the human at all costs” he says as he rolls his violet eyes. Giving a frustrated sigh, he leaps effortlessly, landing on the roofs edge. Balancing his lanky frame he squats down onto the balls of his feet and stares sightlessly into the night. “Most of the time I can’t even remember my human’s name. They all look alike and think alike” pausing as the anger starts churning, “HELL! I bet they all taste alike too!” he shouts and ,seeing the absurdity behind that statement, begins laughing. Coming gracefully to his feet, he starts pacing up and down the roofs edge. “Mica is right, they’re all nothing more than meat sacks…rotting, boring, meat sacks.” Heaving a sigh, he steps off the roof and lands lightly on the balcony of the apartment where his charge slumbers. Placing his hands on the glass door that separates the bedroom from the balcony, he peers at the sleeping form in the bed. “What is the point of all this? Every day, we watch them, help them, PROTECT them, and we get NOTHING!” Smelling the change in the air, he lets his forehead rest against the glass as the night lets down a warm summers rain.

Feeling the warm raindrops drop lightly on his hair he looks up, heaving another sigh. “I am so bored! I have been doing this for so long….TOO LONG” he yells as the rain starts coming down in a heavier beat. Somewhere in the distance thunder began as the wind picked up the pace. “ I want a change, something different from this mundane existence that is placed upon guardians” he mutters, narrowing his eyes at the unaware human. “I crave a change..” feeling renewed, he smiles at his charge as a monster might who has cornered his prey. As lightening cracks through the air, he kicks the door, shattering glass in hundred of directions. Hearing the violent happening, the human quickly awoke. Looking around the room for the source of the noise, his human eyes saw his guardian, and shrank in fear.

“I WILL HAVE A CHANGE” shouts the guardian as he walks toward his charge, his eyes as black as the night.

Looking up into the beginning of another day, Mica’s violet eyes narrowed in grief. “We have lost another” she says as the pain of loosing a comrade runs through her body.
