It started in the graveyard and there it would end. What exactly? I'm not really sure. I just had a feeling. Ever since I wandered into this little town. The town that seemed to be no more. The quiet almost whisper of a town. Everyone seemed dead and lifeless. The graveyard looked happier than anything else. The graveyard... I wondered what it held. Especially for me. I guess tonight would be the night...

    2
I had wondered into the town not too long ago. Perhaps two days to be exact and I already started to feel strange. I had wandered there with really no thought in mind, like I always did and when it happened something always went wrong. At first I thought maybe nothing would happen, but every time I went by that graveyard I started to doubt and I think I was right.

From the little cafe across the street I would see the town’s people go in and out, but seemed less and less like themselves. Now I don't mean character wise because I was new here and knew no one. No, I meant the appearance. They seemed to glow less and less. They seemed to wither more and more. The life seemed to be sucked from them, so there for from the town. What was going on there? Was it a vampire? Non-sense you say, but there are different forms of vampires, I think.

If you've ever noticed the definition of vampires it's always something that sucks away life. People say the life is blood, but could it be more? Could a vampire suck, take, away your soul, your essence? More than just your blood. Again your soul. There is a chance that could be true, but maybe not. Another thing that came to my mind was a demon. Now you're probably thinking 'How are they different? They're both evil, they both take ones soul.’ Wrong. A demon only tourtures ones soul and mind, but they never take it. The devil (Satan) and vampires (in my thought) steal your soul. Again, demons just cause problems of the mind and soul. They can also tempt you. Something else that crossed my mind was a ghost or ghoul. I highly doubted it, but maybe I was wrong. Maybe these ghouls or ghosts were taking over the bodies of these people. Again I had no clue and in the end I don't think I really found out what it was.

    3
Now my first major problem was getting in. Every now and then I would try to just walk through the gates, but they seemed to always be locked. Well, in a manner of speaking locked. The cemetary seemed to be centuries old. The walls and gates at least twelve feet high. The walls looked weak with the dents and chips in the bricks. The gate seemed to be rusted so much that it created a lock. Odd, I would think and try to devise a plan to maybe scale the wall. Hopefully it wouldn't come crashing around me.

It was my fourth day I really started preparing. So, the towns folk wouldn't be suspicious I would leave town everyday with the big rush and come home with them. It seemed better to do that than going at night or getting it here. So, for the next couple of days I would go two towns down, where I felt safe and nothing would happen. I first bought the gear that would work the best in climbing the wall. It took me most of the day, but that was fine, I could take my time and be patient.

The next day I went to the library to look up what it could be. A vampire that could suck the soul out of someone. It wasn't as far fetched than I thought. Yes, they played them like most vampires, but there were a few useful things. For one they didn't "multiply". Meaning one vampire maybe bites one person creating another, than another. At least I wouldn't have to worry about the towns people too much. It was useful to learn the crucifix cause some harm, it didn't kill them, but harmed them. Besides that I could only hope and pray what ideas and spells there are could truly help me. I didn't bother looking into my other ideas because I knew enough about them already. Since the research didn't take me as long as I thought, I went out and bought the rest of my supplies. Okay, so I was a little impatient. I couldn't help it, I was starting to get a little excited to find out what I would run into this time.

When I got home that night I went for a nice little stroll. I needed to relax and scope a few things out. When I reached the graveyard I walked around to the back. I went to find the best place in the back to climb. I chose the back area because it was well hidden with all the trees and bushes. I would blend in perfectly with the night. The less I'm seen the better.

While I'm going over to the wall I feel a pull towards the graveyard. I feel it breathing, pulling me closer and closer. There was something wrong. Did it want me to come? Was this planned? Well, I had to take that chance. So, I quickly found the spot I needed to go up and marked it. I was ready to leave and got some rest, but I think it knew that and used it to its advantage.

    4
That night was a restless and haunting one. I kept dreaming of a woman. A women with no face, yet all the expression in the world. The expression in the end will give me nothing, but despair and nightmares.

It started with the graveyard. I was in and walking to a fallen figure. It seemed so fragile and hurt. I put my hand on its shoulder and pain and sorrow flashed before my eyes. The figure than turned to me. The face wasn't there again, but yet it was and I saw the beauty of this creature. The beauty from all the hurt of time and life itself. She slowly got up and kissed my cheek. She got close to my ear and whispered, "Please...help me..." More torment and pain. Tossing and turning I awoke.

Then in minutes I fell back asleep.
    5
I slept most of the next day away, but still felt drained and honestly didn't look so good. Oh well, I've had worse days. I ate and then started to prepare. I made sure I had all my "weapons" first. I had my crucifix, my holy water, and spells. I then made sure to have all my climbing equipment and that was it. I don't think there was more I could do. So, I waited for the night to creep along. When it did I rushed in.

As I climbed the wall with amazing ease, I started to scare. Why? I wasn't sure... I just had a feeling something or someone bad was waiting for me and I didn't know what it was. So, I took a deep breath and sat on the ledge at the top of the wall. I wondered if this was the right idea and before I could change my mind and go, I fell.

I realized as I was falling that the thing that made it so easy to get up the wall was the same thing that pushed me off. Not a push that was out of no where, but it had been slowly nudging me to that point. whatever was in here wanted me to come here or maybe it was a good force that pushed me here. That idea helped my mind rest just a little bit. Though as I landed (almost cracking my head open and twisting me ankle) I looked around taking in the scenery. Taking in that eerie... Almost soothing... Atmosphere it has...

"Good, she comes with no hesitation..." a women of twenty or more says into the black abyss of a sphere.

"Now, you have to hurry and find the door, my door..." she whispers, bringing her face closer to the sphere.

"Or better put our door..." she coos as she set the sphere in a fine box of mahogany and silk.

"Please hurry," she says to the closed box, with tears slowly falling down her rough, pale skin.

"Hurry, before the door completely locks itself and you can't help yourself anymore..." she says as her voice finally cracks and she buries her face in her hands and begins to sob uncontrollably.

    7
    "Huh?"
"What happened?" I asked to no one in particular.

I had just snapped out of some kind of trance... And what was that... Idea? Thought?

All I remember is a door and I think a women. She looked a little familiar, but I really couldn't tell... Oh, well... Onward I guess.

So, with nowhere else to go I headed for the biggest grave. The on smack dab in the middle. Why? Because it had a door and maybe that was the door she needed to go in. Wait, I meant I needed to go in. So, with great haste, I walked to the door and gripped the knob. It was cold and chilled me to the bone. Not because it was actually cold, no... It was just the thought of where it could lead to that caused this sensation.

I turned the knob. Nothing... It didn't even budge.

"No!" I yelled at the door. I tried again with no luck at all.

I yelled at the door and pounded it violently with my fists.

"Why won't you open?" I asked as gave up. What did I need to do?

Well, I decided to search. Maybe I could find the key for the door.

As I walked by each grave I read name after name. Maybe I would know someone. Hey, maybe someone knows me.

Then out of nowhere I stopped and looked at one of the graves. I started to smile and laugh, oh how I laughed... But that was before something slapped me and I dove for the grave. Whatever was in there I was determined to get it and fast. The dirt was so moist and loose I got to what I needed in no time.

A mahogany box. It looked nice except for the few chips on it. Oh, and the shine had gone away from the paint.

With this I took a deep breath and let it out. I bent over and grabbed the box.

I froze, expecting something to happen because I didn't say the right line. I hoped I wouldn't have to deal with skeletons.

    No skeletons...

    Thank god!

But there was lust for that key, for that door, and I knew this was the thing to open it up. It had to be! So, I brought it to my chest greedily and headed towards the door.

I slowly started to open the box. Only five more steps. I started to take the ball out of the box. Three more steps. I threw the box aside and grabbed the knob. No more steps. The knob turns and I moan with ecstasy with the feel of it turning. With this I open the door... Wherever it may lead...

"Hello," a woman whispers as she pushes and then pokes the girl with the black ball. The woman didn't know her name exactly, but knew who she was. It was her other self. It was the one that kept her safely locked up and happy. But, someone took that away from the women and so she needed the girl to lock her away. That is if she wants nothing bad to happen. Of course the women wouldn't mind something bad to happen, but she knew also it wasn't right. This is the reason she needed to be locked away.

"Messiah... Yes! That's your name for now," she knew that it was a little religious, but she felt it was the right word. This girl, after all, was going to save her, and well herself. If you get my meaning.

"Messiah, you need to hurry and come with me," she said and started jabbing the Messiah in the ribs.

    9
"Ouch, stop..." I moaned swatting away that... Whatever it was...

"Stop!" I said, waking up annoyed.

    "Messiah?" she whispered.

"Fine!" I yelled and sat up. I opened my eyes and looked around and found my person.

    I froze.

I saw me, but maybe six years older. My hair a little grayer than I would like to be at thirty. Of course this was all assuming by how she looked so I could be wrong about the age and how many years apart it was, so please keep that in mind.

But, it was me all right.

"We have no time for questions or gapping. I need to you to open a door with that," she said pointing to the ball, "Because I can only see through the ball. Anyway, when you go in you will take this," she thrust a dagger in my hand, "and stab the man in the chair in the heart."

I laughed and shook my head, shocked.

"Why should I kill the guy? Also, if you want him dead, do it yourself!" I said shrugging. Simple as that.

Now the woman laughed and shook her head.

"I can't," she said, letting her head fall forward.

"Why not? If he is so horrible than do it!" I was starting to get frustrated at this point. I didn't want to kill this guy. I never wanted to kill anything. All I wanted to do was solve this stupid mess.

She then looked up at me. There where tears in her eyes and an emotion I couldn't read at first. Then, in a flash I knew what it was... She loved him for some reason and couldn't kill him and couldn't leave him either.

"This is only the beginning," she whispered, "You have to kill him! For your life! For your sanity!"

At that point she became hysterical and grabbed me by my arms. She squeezed tighter, making me winch, she came closer to my face. She grinned and started breathing deep and slow. The hate and fury in her eyes all too much for me.

"You kill him or I kill you right now," she almost growled at me, "At least I'll never have to live through it."

And at that moment something came to me. This was insanity staring me in the eyes and asking for my help. My job was to kill this man who causes my insanity to escape. I know she could be lying, but she could be telling me the truth. So, I really had no option, but to try and kill him.

    "Why not..." I said shrugging.

She instantly started to smile and hugged me. She let go and shoved the ball back into my hands.

"Lets go!" she said grabbing me by the collar and setting me on my feet.

"Mush! Mush! Messiah!" she said in a child like way and pushed me along.

"Why Messiah? Don't you know my name?" I really wasn't digging this whole Messiah thing.

"Of course I don't and you should know that! You know I'm insane and that's all I know. Well, except common knowledge and a name isn't common knowledge."

"True... Just call me Alice then."

"Alice," she said laughing, "Then, I must be the rabbit?"

"Huh... No..." I said thinking her to be more of the Queen than anyone.

"Aaaah," she sighed and stopped, shoving me to the side, "Now, I can open the door!" With this she started to stroke the door like a child or animal.

    "So, how did you-"

"No questions! Just don't do it, there isn't anymore time!" she shrieked and turned, lunging at me. She grabbed my arms and then threw me at the door.

I hit my head and let one hand off the ball and grabbed the knob. It twisted in my right hand. It clicked and I fell in.

    10
Wherever it was, it was nasty. It smelt like sweat, alcohol, and something else. I was pretty sure I didn't want to know what that smell was.

Nothing seemed to be startled by my entrance. Good. I shoved the ball into my coat pocket and headed down the hallway.

I stopped and looked to my right. Then my left. Yup, living room and a chair on my left. I took a deep breath and held onto the dagger tighter.

You can do it. Five more steps. Just in the heart, no more insane! Three more steps. I brought the dagger above him. No more steps. I bring it down and turn.

I hear him scream as I start to run. I start to pull out the ball with my left hand. I stretched my right towards the knob. I flung open the door and then myself.

I fell through something for awhile. What I fell through I couldn't explain because I don't remember.

    11
Then, all of a sudden I'm in a small house. It was pretty much a room, bathroom, and kitchen with no walls. I looked down at my left hand and there is my traveling bag. I wondered if maybe I was knocked out and the women helped me.

Who knew. But I did know something. I wanted to leave and forget everything.

    12
    But that wasn't so easy.

Over the next six years I looked out for that man. I wanted to avoid him so I wouldn't have to ever see that woman again.

In the end I never saw him. Maybe when I killed him it wasn't the future, but it was during my time line. Or maybe it was a couple years, months, even days before I met him so there for he is no more to me.

I really don't know I am just assuming and guessing.

Also, how the women got that key I have no clue and I really don't care. Whatever she did to get it and be sent to me is her own business. How she got my attention is her business too. I'm just done and tired of this stuff...

    13
Even years after that incident I still had nightmares. That night in the graveyard haunted me so and frightened me. Did this show me she was gone or it was gone? Had she really been locked away? I didn't think so till they slowly started leaving me. I started getting more rest. I was starting to finally get well. Though, after any incident you had a strange feeling, one that never quiet leaves you. No matter how long.

It was twelve at night and I was walking around my house. It was silent and eerie. All the lights were on because I never know what may happen. So, I'll be prepared just incase.

As I reached my room on the next floor, I went to the window and stared into the abyss. I stood there and started to stare at the moon. The big bright moon, how lovely it looked that night. Then soon the moon started to take a glossy look, giving it more depth. Then it started to fill a gray mist and soon became black.

Tears started to roll down my face as the thing seemed to get closer. My knees buckled and I fell, putting my hands against the glass to slow me down.

"No..." I moaned, almost in ecstasy. I didn't want that ball anymore, I didn't want to ever see it again! But there was something that made me want it. I had to have it.

Finally, the ball started to fade while the woman came forward. I couldn't tell how old or young she was, but that didn't matter. She was back and I was being called...
