• “Jack what time does your sister and mom usually comes home?” I asked following him through the sliding glass door. I messed with a glass instrument that looked like a dolphin for a second. It was one of those abstract models that no one but the person who made them knew what they were. It looked somewhat like my necklace. I reached up to touch the silver necklace and it was gone. I panicked for a second and then calmed down and in my head checked around my neck. The glass beads weren’t on the string and the string wasn’t around my neck. I completely forgot about my question so I jumped when Jack tried talking to me.
“They get home at like 4:30 so they should be home in like an hour or so.” He popped a grape into his mouth. I didn’t care anymore I needed my mother’s necklace.
“What are you looking for?” He asked
“I lost my mom’s necklace I lost it, I lost it. How could I lose it?” I asked myself questions and my head filled. How did I lose it, where did it go, why am I still in here? The questions swam through my head. Jack didn’t look troubled at all and that made me very angry.
“Do you know where it is Jack tell me now?” I was on the verge of tears and throwing a fit.
“You mean that one that you wore around your neck and it looked like my mom’s sculpture thing?” he asked.
“What else is there that for one, that looks like it? And for two you dummy of course the one I was wearing.” I felt like stalking away to that tree house and going to sleep and never waking up. I collapsed on the couch my body sprawled out. I closed my eyes and rubbed my forehead in vain. Jack hit my hand lightly with his to get me to open my eyes and when I did a dangling piece of silver sat in front of my face. I gasped and grabbed it. It was cold in my hand I wrapped it around my neck and put the glass ball into its clasp. And I felt whole again like nothing was missing or hidden. I smiled happily and hugged Jack.
“Thank you Jack where was it?” I asked him still happy he shrugged.
“You ripped it off while you were sleeping. So I picked it up and put it in my pocket.” He said
“But it’s freezing and if it had been in your pocket I’m sure it would have been warm.” I said cocking my head to the side. I tied hard to keep the happy look on my face but I didn’t succeed it was replaced with confusion.
“Um well yeah you see-.” I cut him off
“You lied to me. I knew it would happen. You know I did I knew it. I can trust no one no one.” I backed away from him. I looked him up and down and my face was surely disgusted. He reached one hand out of his pocket. And he held out a small bracelet that looked like it could only fit someone with baby hands. Or someone with just small hands like Jack did. Curiosity got the better of me and I stepped forward to look at it. There were small figures on the bracelets that looked like wolf. And they seem to be running around in Jack’s palm. I smiled feeling content with the little creatures.
“Are they real wolfs Jack?” I asked not looking up at him. I took another step forward.
“Yeah they are.” And as soon as the figures were there he closed his hand over them and shoved his hand in his pocket. I back up again this time confused because he had said they were real but wolf weren’t white with blue flames on their noses. The flames weren’t real so what were they?
“What were they I mean what are they?” I said still awed at the tiny figures. It was like watching a four dimensional movie where the fourth dimension is unreal.
