• b]Chapter 2
I awake to something crashing to the floor and then breaking. Swiftly sitting up, I look around at my unknown surroundings, trying to figure out what had broken. I sigh softly, the thing that had broken is not in my…this room. I swing my legs over the bed and stand up. Looking down I realize that I still had my original clothes, they were just cleaned and the rips were sewed up. Hand glowing pink, I then sweep it over my clothes and when after that, it turned the color orange. Ah, so a Cattanian Mute did this, the abilities that one can do will still amaze no matter what. There is a knock on the door and it startles me.
“Come in,” I then say, trying to keep my cool. The door opens and in steps a woman dressed in a long green dress and a kind smile.
“Hello Myeisha, are you feeling better?” She asks, never dropping that smile.
“Um, yeah I do feel better thank you Ms…?” I reply, pausing at the end so I could catch her name.
“Oh silly me, my name is Mrs. Lucy Draculas, but you can call me Mrs. Lucy.” Lucy replies as turns on her heel towards the door. “Breakfast is served downstairs on the forte Myeisha,”
“Wait, where are we?” I call out racing out the door behind her.
“We are in Capricorn’s home, I don’t know if you recall him, but he is the one who accompanied your grandmother and got rid of all the men for you.” Lucy replies. Looking around, I marvel at the splendor of the home, decorated elaborately with vases, silk curtains, and paintings of just about everywhere in the world. Mrs. Lucy leads me down a grand flight of stairs and then out a door onto the patio. My rest come to stop on a huge table with covered silver platters on top and surrounded by my brother, Grandmother Danie, and Capricorn.
“Myeisha, good morning,” Grandmother Danie calls out as Mrs. Lucy and I walk to the table. Capricorn looks up from the newspaper in his hand and the first thing I notice is a scar going from his right temple all the way down to the corner of his lip. I pull my eyes away from it, trying not to be rude.
“Ah Myeisha, you feel better I presume?” He asks shooing a fly away from his curly brown hair.
“Yes sir, thank you so very much for the medical attention and for repairing my clothes.” I reply bowing my head a little in respect to the senior. He then laughs and says to my grandmother,
“You have such respectful grandchildren Trilinia. I am dually impressed. Myeisha, you don’t have to call me sir, just call me Capricorn. Oh and also, your praise medical attention and repairing of the clothes doesn’t fall to me, it falls to Mrs. Lucy, my friend and esteemed doctor in the human hospital.” I gasp silently as I turn to Mrs. Lucy and thank her. She doesn’t work in the Cattanian Mutes Society? That is strange, all do…don’t they? Capricorn waves his finger and two chairs appear at the table. As Mrs. Lucy and I take our seats, Capricorn opens his hands and says,
“First we say grace now that all of my guest’s are here. Heavenly father, we thank you for this food and we thank you that everyone is safe and feeling better. Bless this food into our bodies and keep us forever in your watch and by your side. Amen.”
    “Amen,” Everybody choruses in sync.
“Now, we can eat.” Capricorn then announces. Again he waves his hands, and the covers on the platters fly up high into the air and then hovering, revealing the breakfast food underneath. I gape at the food and then carefully grab silver tongs out of a bowl, spooning some eggs onto my plate. After grabbing some pancakes, bacon and fruit, I begin to eat in silence, trying to secretly study Capricorn. Why in the cloth’s message did I believe, Sagittarius, say Capricorn’s name as if Sagittarius knows him. Capricorn looks at me out of the corner of his eye and I quickly turn my eyes to look at the surrounding area behind him. I marvel at the growing willow trees and their long willowy leaves that sway like ballerina’s arms in the wind.
Then I notice a small glistening lake hidden behind the willows. I lean back in my chair to get a better look and then fall to the ground. Before anyone else could laugh, I start laughing at myself as I pick up my chair. The others burst out laughing right after me and then Capricorn comes over to help me.
    “Are you alright?” He asks.
“Yes, I am sorry that I almost broke your chair.” I reply, my face burning a crimson red.
“Ah don’t worry; I’ve fallen out of my chair millions of times while being mesmerized by the lake.” He tells me winking. I smile still completely embarrassed. The rest of breakfast is eaten with laughs and talk about how good the food is. Then the mood is entirely changed when Grandmother Danie says,
“Um kids, I have something to tell you.” We both know that when anyone says that, there is something wrong and we both shuffle uncomfortably in our seats. Grandmother Danie looks at Capricorn and then back at us. “The rest of your vacation is not going to be spent with me. You two are going to a safe place somewhere with other Cattanian Mute kids.” My mouth drops open in shock.
“Wait, is this all because of the attacks made by those freaky men?” Zaiharan asks while nervously tapping on his leg.
“Yes, the message that you got was heard by other kids of the Cattanian Mutes who put Sagittarius away. They have decided that if he is going their kids and or possibly the whole family, that the kids should be put in a safe house where they can be protected.” Capricorn answers, a serious look overtaking the happy look he once had. My heart plunges to my heart and crashes, making me inhale a big breath.
“What about their moms and dads? What about ours? What about you?” I ask rapidly, not really wanting to know the answer.
“Capricorn has contacted each of the families, we are going to stay in a community close together in the Cattanian Mute Society where we can watch each other and help when needed. You must remember that all of us are actually friends from long ago, even if we don’t show it.” Grandmother Danie replies with a scowl.
“Who is the one or ones who are going to protect us? Are they people from the government?” Zaiharan then inquires, not even looking phased from the information.
“No, we are not from the government but we are looked at as very highly powerful Cattanian Mutes. The people consist of: me, Mrs. Draculas, Mr. Lark, Ms. Rosiallias, Mr. Kodisphear, Mr. Beyonid, and Mr. Gard.” Capricorn responds with a smile. I bite down on my lip, trying to keep my anger from boiling over the top.
“How many other kids are going to be there?” I question.
“Believe it or not, only seven kids will be there.” Lucy answers. My mouth falls open in shock again and then shake my head,
“Wait, are you saying that it only took fourteen of you to put Sagittarius away and I believe his men too?” Lucy nods smiling with pride.
“Twenty-one of us to be precise,” Grandmother Danie articulates. I huff a big breath and then ask the question I really wanted to never ask,
    “When do we leave?”
“This afternoon,” Capricorn replies looking not at me but at the willow trees.
“Alright, I go back.” I say with a little bit of a rude attitude as I get up from the table and walk in. I immediately regret it, but am too angry to say sorry as I walk through the house, retracing my steps. When I get up to the room, I leave the door open and go to pack my stuff when I see my bag on a chair with everything already done. I sigh and then walk to the bed. Sitting on the edge, I finally let my feelings surface and I start to cry softly. Someone appears in the doorway and I wipe my tears away, not wanting to show weakness.
“It’s not weakness to cry in dark times my dear, you must let your feelings show or you will be nothing, but a blank mess.” Capricorn tells to me from the doorway.
“I am…sorry for being rude at the table, it’s just…everything is like a bad dream. I thank you for the protection, but I am also worried about my parents, I mean…” I trail off looking out the window. Capricorn then walks in and stands right next to me. After that I look up at him and he smiles down at me.
“I can promise you this Myeisha, when your parents are back together with old friends, they are stronger together then they are alone. They can defend themselves from Sagittarius’s best Fear,” My eyebrow raises at the mention of Fear, and Capricorn sighs.
“Fear is the name of Sagittarius’s men…they consist of the strongest Cattanian Mutes from everywhere in the world. I never thought he would get them back so fast, and get new ones.” He says with a bit of anger hidden in his voice.
“Capricorn, why did Sagittarius say your name in the message as if he knows you?” I ask, keeping eye contact with him. Capricorn looks at me and then turns away.
“He’s my brother,” He answers over his shoulder as he walks away. My eyes widen and I feel like I am going to faint. I’d better keep that information on the low down around the other kids. For the rest of the time, Lucy takes my brother and me through the gardens. We see white deer, some foxes, and one eagle flying overhead. I take a long look into the water and see Koi fish swimming around. Their bright colors hypnotize me and I watch them intently like a cat.
“Hey kitty cat, come on! Mrs. Lucy is going to ask Capricorn if we can go see his horses come on.” Zaiaharan yells and I get to my feet and run towards him. Soon after, we find Capricorn talking to my grandmother on the terrace and Lucy then asks him if we could go see his horses. He heartily consents. After that, the three of us walk quickly to the stables. Thankfully I have pants on and not shorts, though some riding pants would’ve have been nice. I find a stall with the name Scotia written on the plaque and look inside. I gasp as I gaze at the sleek black hair Arabian. I click my tongue and Scotia timidly walks over to me.
She butts her head against my hand and I begin to scratch it. Scotia whinnies and playfully nods her head up and down. I chuckle and run my fingers through her forelock. I hear my brother cooing to a horse and I look over at him, my hand still on Scotia’s head. I see an appaloosa place its head on my brother’s shoulder and blow his hair up with its breath. I smile and then go back to petting Scotia.
“Scotia seems to like you,” I hear Capricorn’s voice behind me. I turn around quickly and see Capricorn standing there with Grandmother Danie.
“She’s a real beauty; did you get her from Arabia?” I ask, looking back at the horse.
“Yes, but the problem is I can’t ride her.” Capricorn replies and then walks up to the stall to start petting her.
“Is she a bad riding horse?” I then inquire looking into the horse’s blue eyes.
“No, her stride is a little too fast for me, I like a horse that likes to just walk and only run a little. Scotia always wants to run, she’s like a little kid hyped up on sugar.” Capricorn chuckles while giving the horse a nice pat on the neck.
“I love her, my house a stable but no horses have been bought for it. I can’t wait for them too.” I state sadly. Capricorn grins slyly and walks away. At last the time came when we have to leave for the safe house.
“Alright, Lucy the plane leaves at 5:00; it’s my private plane so there won’t be any waiting as you can wait on the plane. It’s a double-decker, so you can’t miss it. You’ll have to show them this so they’ll let you onto the airfield. The car will be taken by one of my chauffeurs waiting there.” Capricorn informs Lucy as she starts up the BMW. Grandmother Danie gives both of us a kiss on the foreheads with little tears coming down her face.
“My darling grandchildren, I know you are under the greatest protection, but I am going to miss you guys.” She says with a sniffle.
“You will see us again Grandmother, will you write and tell our parents we love them please when you see them?” Zaiharan says, and then we both walk to car. Capricorn waves to us as we step in and I roll down my window to ask,
    “Wait you aren’t coming?”
“I will be there in a day or two, don’t worry,” He smiles cheerily. I nod and wave good-bye to my grandmother and after that we drive out of sight. I look at the car’s clock, 3:30, and I sigh, hopefully this trip to the airport would take a while, because I really don’t want to wait for long. My prayers are answered from above, for the trip takes about forty-five minutes to get to the airport. As we arrive towards the gate, a police officer steps out of a bungalow located right next to the wired fence.
“Madam, you do know that no cars are allowed on the airstrip unless you have papers.” He says, his eyes hidden behind black shades.
“Oh, well we do have papers and here they are,” Lucy states waving the papers in her hand and then showing them to the officer. He nods his head and waves us off. Lucy spots the plane even before Zaiharan or I could. I see other cars around it and begin to wonder how they got through. Capricorn…oh yeah, he must have done it when I was asleep, but that fast? Lucy stops the car suddenly and then turns to us.
“Alright, I’ll see that our bags are loaded with the cargo, you guys go on the plane and meet the others. We have about thirty-five minutes to wait, so now would be a great time to see your…roommates.” We nod our heads in agreement and get out of the car. I see someone walking to us and I put on my biggest smile to show that I am friendly. The man simply smiles at me and just goes right past me towards Lucy. They begin talking so I take that as a hint to go get on the plane, it’s none of my business and I don’t need to just stand there when Lucy told me to get on the plane. I quickly catch up to my brother and we then go up the stairs into the giant plane.
The inside looks like the inside of a hotel room with a huge bar, a plasma TV and couch like seats instead the inside of a normal plane. My brother marvels at everything and then I see some kids sitting on the couch like seats near the plasma TV. I elbow him in the stomach and motion him over to where the others are. He and I tentatively walk over to them, and then they notice us and stop talking. My heart drops, this is awkward.
“Hello, are you supposed to be here?” A girl with black curls asks in a snobbish voice. My anger rises, how dare she!
“Yes, we are supposed to be here, we are the Akura children.” I reply through my teeth. Zaiharan touches my shoulder and I relax them.
“Ah, sorry, have to be careful.” She states studying us with piercing eyes. The other girl stands up and walks to me, her anime buns bouncing to and fro on her head.
“Hi, my name is Martha Williams; it’s nice to meet two of the famed Akura’s children.” She says in a sing song voice that reminds me of Taylor Swift swinging “Love Song”.
“I’m Myeisha and this is my brother Zaiharan, nice to meet you too, Martha.” I tell her, shaking her outstretched hand. She then turns around and starts introducing everyone else,
“The one sitting in the corner chair is Grime Randell; the one in front of the TV playing Halo is Hans Tanaka, and the one you just talked to is Kendal Kosiah. Don’t worry about her; she is a prissy girl who can’t stand to be outdone by anyone.” Martha declares and then whispers the last part so Kendal doesn’t hear it.
“How have I outdone her right now, I just walked in?” I inquire wondering why this girl, Kendal, had her head so high in the clouds.
“Well, your status as an Akura child, the Akura clan so to speak, is famed throughout the land for their stunning abilities and wonderful medical care. While Kendal’s family is really only known for their government position.” Martha responds. I glance back at Kendal and see her whip out a phone. She punches in a few numbers and then places the phone against her ear. As I turn my attention back to Martha I hear Kendal say,
“Joshua, where are you? Your parents did accept Capricorn’s invitation right?” I don’t listen to any more for Martha begins to lead me around the plane, showing me everything since the trip to where ever the heck we are going is going to be a long one.
“Alright here is the bar, but there is no alcohol like a normal one you would fine in an inn or something like that. Upstairs is some beds for us and for the crew, but the upstairs are split so there is a boy and girls side for the kids and then the same thing for the pilots. There is actually not just one plasma TV but three, you just have to walk back further that way to find them. You can play and watch just about anything; you just have to go up to one of the black little speaker and press the black button. The next thing you do is when the little microphone pops out, you just tell it the name of the movie or the game you want and it will then pop out of the little slit right below the black box.” Martha explains, pointing everything out. We then amble into the first lobby and I observe my brother talking to…Hans, they seem to be discussing Halo or at least it looks like that. I hear someone stomping up the steps and turn to see who it is. A boy dressed in expensive clothing comes straight through the entrance and once he sees me he sneers.
“Ah so you’re the Akura kid my baby was talking about, you do look like a commoner, not like me who shows everyone my status.” He comments and my hands ball into fists, wanting to punch him straight in the kisser.
“Sweetie kin,” I hear Kendal’s voice exclaim. She comes running into the room and wraps her arms around the boy, kissing him passionately. I turn my attention back to Martha and gag. She stifles a laugh and we go to the next lobby whose entrance is covered by a white silk curtain.
“You sure we’re allowed to go in here, the curtain is covering the entrance, and doesn’t that mean it’s not ready or something?” I ask, a little afraid of breaking the rules on my first day here. She just rolls her eyes and holds open the curtain for me. Walking in I see the exact same get up in the other lobby, except without the bar.
“Alright, do you have any suggestions on movies? Or games for that matter of fact?” Martha asks her finger over the button.
“I really don’t mind about what you choose, I have no opinion nor suggestions.” I reply with a smile. She nods her head and then presses the button,
“Final Fantasy 7 Advent Child, movie,” A movie case falls right through the slit right into Martha’s hands. I wonder in awe at the mechanics of the device and then go to sit down on a chair next to a window. I look out and see Lucy talking to the same man, but not by the car, now they are near a cargo lifting device thing. I watch the cargo thing lift the luggage into the air and after that, more luggage appears mysteriously on top of everything. I raise my eyebrow and then the luggage disappears under the plane. I hear some music playing in the background and turn to see the menu of the movie on the screen. I close my eyes to hear the music more in depth and then it stops. The screen goes black and then goes to play the movie.
Martha glances at me over her shoulder smiles; I smile back and point to the door. She nods and I walk out, going to see who the new person is. Pulling away the curtain slowly, I see the new person walk through the entrance and my lungs compress themselves for a short second. The boy I had seen at the movie theatre walks in, a long black matrix movie like cloak buttoned up all the way up to his neck. Black shades cover his eyes and then he pulls them off. Quickly, I throw the curtain back in place and walk back to my seat. Martha raises an eyebrow at me and I shake my head. She sighs and then goes back to watching the movie. Twenty minutes past and I am thankful that the boy did not come walking through the door, but then right at this minute, a voice comes over the intercom,
“Could all kids please come to the 1st lobby please, we have some information to give you.” I bite down on my lip and get up. Martha and I walk side by side into the other lobby and take seats in the back. The boy looks at me out of the corner of his eye, but I pretend to not notice it. He then smiles smugly. Lucy walks into the room, dressed in a red beach dress and her hair pulled up into a ponytail.
“Alright kids or shall I call you teens?” She asks us, but none of us answer so she just continues,
“In about twelve hours, we will arrive at our destination which is a little town outside the city of Tokyo. We are to get off the plane quickly and swiftly. Get into the car and no questions asked about it alright? Do you have any questions right now?” The boy’s hand goes straight up into the air,
“Yeah why do we have to do things so speedily? I mean, does Sagittarius’s Fear know exactly where we are?”
“No Abacus, but if we don’t do things quickly the Fear will have information about where we are. Now does anyone else have questions?” Nobody raises there hand and then Lucy leaves the room to go to the cockpit. Martha nudges me in the arm and points to the lobby behind us. I get up to leave alongside her and then disappear behind the curtain.
“Do you know that woman?” She asks me as she sits down in a chair.
“Yeah, her name is Lucy Draculas, she asked me to call her Ms. Lucy, but I don’t know how she would like others to call her.” I reply taking a seat beside her, though I at first didn’t really want to watch anything, when I realized that it’s a Japanese Anime movie, it got me hooked. I grin at the sight of three characters on crazy looking futuristic motorcycles with long white hair. After that I chuckle when a blond character with blue eyes comes onto the screen.
“Whenever Japanese makes a blond character, they always have blue eyes whether or not they are a girl or a boy.” I state racking my memory for other examples of blond anime characters with blue eyes. The curtain opens in a flurry of movement and in steps Abacus. I look from Martha to him, trying to keep my cool.
“Oh hello Abacus, how has your summer been so far?” She asks him, stopping the movie. Abacus takes a seat right next to me and then pulls it up a little so he can see both of us.
“It’s been half and half for me. I got to go riding with my pals up in Austria with my horse, but my parents left me in the mansion with my uncle. I don’t like him that much because all he does is sit in front of the TV and eat anything and everything he possible can. Oh yeah, I also saw the new Harry Potter movie, your friend here can testify to that, she saw me there and actually ran into me.” He replies looking straight at me. My face bypasses red and goes to cherry. Soon after Abacus laughs,
“Ha, I knew it. You are the girl who kept staring throughout the time you saw me.” I smile tentatively, and then sigh, completely embarrassed.
“I’m Myeisha Akura,” I then say. He sticks out his hand and I shake it.
“I’m Abacus, but you probably already knew that when Ms. Lucy talked to us.” He tells me. Pulling my hand away, I realize that on his hand is a long white scar that seems to go past his wrist, but I can’t see any more for his jacket sleeve hides it. After that I look away rapidly, hoping that he didn’t catch me staring at it. Abacus sighs and then pulls his sleeve back, showing that the scar went all the way up to his elbow. My hand goes to my mouth in shock and grief.
“What happened?” I ask. Abacus is silent for awhile and then answers,
“I got into a fight with a kid at my school, I didn’t know he had a knife and so while going to punch him, he ran the knife along my arm. Man that had to be the most painful thing I have ever gone through.” I look down and then back at Abacus. He pulls the sleeve back down over his arm and then turns to the plasma TV.
“What movie are you watching?” He asks, seeming totally intrigued by the scene.
“Final Fantasy 7 Advent Child,” Martha and I chorus, he laughs. His laugh reminds me of when Legolas talks, sweet and almost a melody. His ponytail bounces up and down, smacking his back.
“Do you want to watch it with us?” I ask before I could even think correctly. Abacus eyes widen and then he raises an eyebrow. I bite my tongue, punishing myself for even speaking, and then he nods his head.
“Sure, I haven’t seen this movie in a while, that would be fun.” He answers and I now taste blood. I don’t make any yelp of pain; I just smile at him and then put my attention back to the TV as Martha pushes the play button. We get about maybe thirty minutes into the movie, before another voice comes over the intercom.
“Hello this is Captain Lavish speaking and we are preparing to take off, please put your seatbelts on and I will tell you in the air, when it is okay for you to put your seatbelts back on. Remember this is a nonsmoking plane and ask you to please check the safety cards which are located under your seat. Thank you,” Grabbing my seat belt and putting it on, my eyes are glued to the screen not wanting to miss a thing. The plane starts to move, but I hardly even notice it, but I notice when the plane starts to pick up speed and then lift up into the air. I close my eyes and place my hand on what I thought to be my arm rest, but instead, I placed my hand on another hand. I look to the left and quickly take my hand away when I grasp the fact that my hand is on Abacus’s. Abacus just glances at me and then turns his attention back to the screen.
The Captain voice comes on the intercom again, telling us we can take off our seat belts and move around the lobbies or cabins as he told us. Martha, Abacus and I stay put in our seats, but we do take our belts off. After the movie finishes, Martha gets up to put the movie back in the slot. I am too intrigued by the view outside the window, to even notice how she puts it back. Abacus walks up to the window next to me and stares out.
“Clouds…always had bad dreams about falling through them without someone or something there to catch me.” He comments, his pupils dilating to the escaping rays of the sun. I place my hand on the window, wishing I could feel the strength of the wind blowing around me and through my hair.
“So I guess you don’t like sky diving?” I ask and he chuckles.
“You could say that,” He replies looking into my eyes. I chuckle back and then I see him studying me with intense eyes.
“Is something wrong?” I inquire, dying to look at myself to find out if something’s wrong.
“No, I am just studying you.” He replies. Ah…so you ask him a question and he doesn’t try to hide the real truth, so he’s blunt.
“What is so interesting to study?” I then ask, wondering if he’s blunt enough to answer that question.
“The interesting thing is that you are the first Akura first born in the Akura’s history to ever be blessed with the Akura’s power instead of the second born.” He replies and I am stooped. So no matter what I ask, I’m bound to get the straight answer and not half truths…cool beans.
“Do you want a drink…coke or something?” He asks and I look at him in question.
“Yeah…sure, um a sprite please,” I reply trying not to stutter. He nods his head and then disappears behind the curtain.
“Never before have I seen Abacus like that, what did you do to him?” Martha inquires, taking the seat on the other side of me.
“Um…I sort of stared at him in the theatre and then like he said I bumped into him after the Half Blood Prince.” I reply scratching the back of my head nervously. Her mouth drops open and then she bursts out laughing. After that she begins rolling around on the chair holding her stomach. I raise both my eyebrows and my eyes widen in surprise.
“Have I said something wrong?” I ask and in time she stops. Wiping away tears, she replies,
“No, but now I know why he’s acting like that around you! He’s flirting! How did I not notice that?” I gulp and then turn my face away, hiding the happiness on my face. Yes! Someone I finally had sort of a developing crushed on seems to have the same for me! Score one for me, score zero for Zaiharan. The curtain parts and in comes Abacus holding a sprite and lemonade. He passes the sprite to me and then begins to drink the lemonade. Martha nudges me in the side and then walks out.
“Thank you Abacus,” I tell him, pointing to the drink which I had taken a long sip of. Abacus blinks and then turns to look out the window. I finish my drink slowly and then place it in the cup holder. Soon after, the plane jerks violently, throwing both me and Abacus straight to the floor. The plane jerks violently again, throwing me against the wall after which I tried to stand. Abacus rushes over to me and after checking to make sure I didn’t break anything, helps me to my feet. Miraculously, the plane didn’t jerk again and I begin to rub my head trying to lessen the pain. After that, all of a sudden, a red clothed man steps in from the back lobby. He sees us and I see his eyes widen through the slits. I ball my hands into fists and they become covered by rocks, sharp rocks. Abacus glances at my hands and then goes into a fighting stance.
“Hey guys; looks like we have two fighters and one of them is an Akura child.” The man calls over his shoulder. I bite down on my tongue, hard enough to draw blood while more men came out from the curtain. Closing my eyes, I then think to myself, Zaiharan, there are men on board, get Ms. Lucy now!
“Whoa stop her, she’s contacting someone!” One of the men orders and that then sends two guys running at me and Abacus. One of them leaps at me and I punch in the stomach with my rock hand. The punch makes him just stagger backwards a few feet, but he clutches his stomach. He then looks at his arm and sees that it is stained with blood from long slashes and deep cuts made by the rocks on my hand. The other man, Abacus had kicked back with a judo kick that allowed him to run up the body of the man and then kick him in the face while doing a back flip. The rocks begin to dissolve and then it begins to be surrounded by white mist. The curtains behind us are opened and I turn my head to see who it is…bad move. The man who had ordered the first two put his hand out like he’s doing a high five and then clutches the air. The next thing I know, Abacus slams right into me, pinning me against the wall. In order to not hit him with the mist, I place it against myself and wait for the pain.
No pain came, and then I look down. The mist had started coiling around my body, not touching Abacus, not even once. After that it shoots off me like a snake striking towards the man. He reaches out to deflect and it breaks. He smiles and then his smile turns to a grimace of fear, as the mist conjures back together and then attacks him. As he is trying to get the mist off, Abacus unpins me, falling to ground. I begin to fall on top of him, but Lucy grabs me.
“Stay behind me kids,” She orders and obediently, Abacus and I go behind her. She raises her fingers, which are now glowing orange. Flicking them up a little a tiger then appears in front of her growling and barring its teeth. The men stare at the tiger and then back at Lucy, another tiger appears and then a third.
“Hum, seems as though we have more men then you, you clearly have the upper ground.” Another man says pointing to the crew walking in, all their hands glowing in varieties of brilliant color.
“We simply have a message for thee from Sagittarius,” He then says, holding his hand out. A green light spurts from it like a firework and a voice booms clearly throughout the plane,
“You can run all you want, but I will get those kids. They will fall just like I did, and then I will destroy the fathers and mothers and finally I’ll come after you Capricorn and your pathetic crew. You can’t hide from me,” I gulp, when I recognize the voice that stings like needles into my skin. The man smiles under his mask and then in a flash of purple, they all disappear. I look from the empty place to Lucy.
“Kids, if anything like that happens again, I expect you all the get together in a big group and stay together.” She commands and then turns on her heel towards the cockpit again. I glimpse at Abacus and see him still on the floor. I reach my hand out and he grabs it. I then hoist him to his feet and then drop my hands to my side. Right at that minute, my brother comes running in and crashes into me, hugging me tightly.
“Why do they keep attacking us, Myeisha?” He asks, looking up at me with worried eyes that seem to shake. I pat his head,
“They attack because a sadistic guy named Sagittarius seems to think that he can take us down like our parents did to him, but he can’t get through his thick head that we have some…very strong protection.” I reply and Zaiharan tenses.
“How does he know…or his men know where we are? And how did he even get the information about us, including our parents?” He inquires, letting go of me. I ponder that question, wondering how he got the information about our parents and then about us. What also boggles my mind is how he just went after the ones who had kids, what about the ones who didn’t get married? Won’t he have revenge on them too? Not that I wanted him to, anyway.
“I don’t know Zaiharan, I really don’t.” I reply truthfully. Zaiharan sighs and then he hears Hans’s voice calling him, saying that the game is starting. Zaiharan bonds out of the room without a second thought. After that I turn to Abacus, who had just stood there quietly the whole time my brother was there.
“You had some nice moves back there,” I comment remembering his judo kick. He blushes a bit and then grins proudly.
“My parents persuaded me to take just about every fighting style, but judo and karate are my personal favorites.” He states.
“The only thing my dad ever persuaded me to do was fight from horseback. It’s actually very fun to do, as long as the weapon you hold isn’t too heavy.” I say and then giggle a little after.
“What can you use from horse back?” He then asks.
“Well…I can use a long sword, javelin, and a bow and arrow. My favorite is actually a bow and arrow.” I reply with a little smile creeping onto my face.
“Can you create one?” Abacus inquires. I nod holding out my hand as if I am grasping the back of a bow. A black swirl appears and then in a blink of an eye, I am holding a bow in one hand and a silver tipped arrow in the other. His eyes twinkle in amusement and after that, the arrow disappears.
“I am really not in the mood to explain why I impaled someone.” I tell him and he rolls his eyes. I hold the bow out and he takes it gently from my hand. He runs his hand along the back of the bow, tracing the exquisite texture from the tip to tip.
“The texture, it reminds me of something you would find on a Japanese bow…that is so cool.” He comments and I feel my face redden with pride. After that he passes the bow back to me and I hold it outright, the black swirl returning and taking the bow back to its hiding place…somewhere in the desolate universe. The curtain parts and in steps Joshua, with Kendal like almost hanging on his arm. He sneers at me as they walk right past us to the other cabin. I follow them out of the corner of my eye,
“What’s their problem?” I ask, loud enough so they could hear it. Abacus snickers, but doesn’t say anything more after that. I hear a loud scoff coming from I think Joshua, and I laugh silently. Abacus rolls his eyes and then goes to the black box.
“Mind if I pick a game to play?” He asks me, and I shake my head, no. He says something that I choose not to hear as I walk over to the window to take another look out of the window. I place my hand on the window, my head begins to pain me and I place my hand on my head. Sitting down, the pain worsens and I shut my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose to see if I could quench at least some of the pain. Then, a voice, obscure at first, but then becomes louder, calling my name.
“Myeisha, Myeisha, Myeisha,” It says and I shake my head, hoping that it’s an illusion, but nothing I want or hope for comes true this day.
“Who are you?” I ask, speaking in my head. Actually, it kind of scared me that my voice spoke in the same density, but in my head and not around me.
“Ah, I am so glad that you’re listening to me. I am the one they call Anguish” The voice replies.
“Do you have a message from Sagittarius?” I ask. Anguish laughs and then says,
“So you think I am one of Sagittarius’s Fear….ha-ha…well you are correct, but I don’t have a message.”
“Well then what do you want?” I ask and there is a long silence and then Anguish says,
“I wanted to hear your voice so I can pick you out when I see you.” Then there is a scary silence.
