• Chapter 2- Guess What?
We were suspended in mid air for at least half an hour but it seemed longer since there was no talking the whole way there. When we finally got there he let me go and ran toward the East Wing. Ten minutes later he came running back. He quickly wrapped his arms around my waist. His lips met mine and my heart sped, my insides burned. My fingers tangled themselves in his hair as he pulled me tighter. I felt his hands slip ever so slightly under my shirt. I put my hand on his chest and pushed back.
    “Too much?” He asked worriedly.
“Kinda. I mean we’re not even dating yet.”
“True. But that can be changed easily.”
    “Are you asking me out?”
“Well yeah! Don’t try to act clueless. I know you too well.”
He was right…again. We had known each other since kindergarten. But he still owed me an explanation as to what the hell happened at the school, who that man was and what he wanted with me. Also now he had to tell me exactly what was in the East Wing. “You need to answer me some questions first.”
He sighed letting me go. Now I didn’t feel near as safe so I said “First of all, let’s go inside.”, as I grabbed his hand and swung his arm around me. He smiled. “Alright, works for me.” He said as we walked inside.
I knew my way around Tyler’s house pretty well. After all I had spent most of the summer there. So I walked right in and made my way to the living room and sat down on one of the many couches all with his arm still around me. His dad wasn’t home so we mostly had the house to ourselves aside for the butler, a few maids, and the strange man. “Alright, let the questions flow.” He started calmly.
“Okay. First of all, what exactly happened back there at the school?”
“Umm. How exactly can I put this without freaking you out? ...” There was a long pause. “I…uh… kinda… okay not kinda…but, I work for the CIA”
“Wait. Like James Bond kind of stuff?”
    “Exactly like James Bond.”
“Wow. But that still hasn’t answered my question.”
He sighed. “You see. Among spy’s I’m like a celebrity. Anyone and Everyone wants’ to either kill me or be me. And so anyone I get close to is automatically on numerous hit lists. Like you for example. I couldn’t help but to get close to you. It was like an invisible magnetic force that pulled me to you. I just couldn’t help myself. Trust me; I tried to keep my distance but I just couldn’t do it. What happened earlier was completely and totally my fault. If I had kept myself away from you…” He paused.
“If you had kept yourself away from me, not only would you have been unhappy; I would have been too.” I said as soothingly as I could manage under the pressure of the situation.
“True. Very true. But anyways, that man came after you because I got close to you. The man he works for wants me dead but doesn’t want to have to work to get me killed. He figures that if he captured, tortured, and killed you that it would make me go into a depression and I would either kill myself or give myself over to him and just let him kill me. Either way, he would take the credit of my death and that would bring fame, fortune, and power his way.”
“So basically, even if I rejected you, you would still have to keep an eye on me where ever I go?”
“Basically. I thought it would just be easier if we were dating though.”
    “You know I can’t date until I’m 16.”
“Yeah, yeah. But this would have to be a secret anyways.”
“I’ve still got questions.” I say quickly to avoid answering.
He rolls his eyes. “Fine. Ask on.”
    “Who’s that man?”
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I’ll tell you as soon as I know.”
“Okay. Now answer truthfully. What’s in the East Wing?”
“I could tell you. But then I’d have to kill you. No just kidding. Umm. Why don’t I just show you?”
“Okay then. I thought you would be tougher to crack.”
“Well you already know I’m a spy so there’s really no point in hiding it now. Oh yeah. And please don’t tell anyone at school.”
    “I’m not that stupid.”
“I know. Now before we go to the East Wing. Have I answered all your questions?”
    “Yep.”
“Then will you go out with me now?”
“I guess there’s no point in saying no.”
    “Yes!”
“Don’t get too excited. One of us could be killed.” I said half serious and half playfully.
“Oh stop. With me as protection no one will ever get to you.”
“Oh joy.” I reply with a great amount of sarcasm.
“What? Is full-time protection not exactly what you hoped for?”
“Not exactly. But I guess I should expect that when my boyfriend’s a spy.”
He laughed. “Yeah I guess so.”
    “Can we go now?”
“Sure. To the East Wing we go. But you have to promise not to freak out if you see anything creepy.”
I laughed. “I promise.” And we were off.
