• Ivy

Whispers floated around me, singing sweet songs telling me to leave and come with them. But an urgent voice pulled through the rest, Mason’s “Ivy! Please Ivy! Wake up come back to me.” I’m coming I thought I’m coming. I tried to stand but the something held me down. “Ivy! Come on!” I’m coming. Mason I’m coming. I pushed harder until it seemed to hurt. I tried to call out to Mason but my lips wouldn’t move I had no control.
“Sleep Ivy,” A voice whispered in my ear “Join us! Life is so much easier.” But nothing was easy in my life. Keeping my eyes wide open I pushed against the forces holding me down.

    Mason

“Ivy! Please Ivy! Wake up come back to me,” Mason pleaded holding her in his arms gingerly “Ivy! Come on!” The Quaker behind him roared. This was its fault! Mason laid Ivy gently back on the floor. Then Mason stood anger fueling his powers. “Melody, Tammy get behind me,” He ordered. They did quickly seeing the fierce expression on his face. In his hands was a ball of electricity and it kept growing. When he was satisfied with the size he hurled it at the Quaker. There was a fizzle sound the ball exploding then the smell of dirt filled the air. The smoke that gathered cleared and all that was left of the Quaker was a pile of dirt and a hole in the ceiling. Melody and Tammy blinked as Mason turned and walked back to Ivy’s side. Suddenly Mason had an idea. He wrapped his arms around Ivy’s waist and pulled her against him, rainbow light flew from his fingertips and wrapped around Ivy.

What are you doing!?Cam shouted in his head that’s dangerous! That light hasn’t been tested for this yet.

Well now I’m testing it and if I fail I’ll lose IvyMason thought back holding on to the pain of losing her to make the light stronger. When Ivy was fully wrapped in Rainbow light he watched in amazement as it glowed brighter around her.

    Ivy

I suddenly felt a wave of energy and I floated closer to consciousness. “Good bye Ivy” The voices whispered around me. Then in a flash of light I could feel someone’s arms wrapped tightly around me, when I opened my eyes rich rainbow light danced around me. When it faded I saw Mason. His brow creased with worry, eyes closed in hope. I lifted my hand and placed it lightly on his cheek. His eyes snapped opened as he grabbed my hand and pressed it harder against his cheek.

“Ivy,” Mason breathed he dropped my hand and pulled me into a hug. “Why would you do that to me?” He whispered softly in my ear.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered back. When he pulled back on his arm was a long cut. “You’re hurt.”

“Just a scratch I’ll be fine,” He said shaking his head. I grabbed his arm in both of my hands and held it tightly. The skin around the cut was red and angry looking. Warm blood ran onto my hands as I concentrated hard on the cut. Before my eyes the cut closed up like it was never there. “Ivy,” Mason said his tone full of warning. I wiped my hands on my now ripped jacket and slid closer to him.

“The Quaker’s claws are filthy that’s what it uses to kill its prey. Wherever the prey was cut an infection will start and slowly kill it.” I looked at him as he opened and closed his mouth trying to find away to protest but finding none. Mason wrapped his arms tightly around me and stared into my eyes. He pressed his lips lightly to mine, sending my heart into overdrive.

“Is everyone all right?” A voice drifted down the hall towards us. Mason pulled away and looked down the hall. I turned to look as well and walking down the hallway was the principal.

“Looks like we’re going to need a story,” Tammy said to low for the principal to hear. Mason and I nodded as we stood from the floor. “We’re all fine!” Tammy said as the principal came to stand in front of us.

“What happened? I was on my way here and I felt the ground shake.”

“It was an earth quake,” I said nodding. “You know that’s common here in California.” At that moment I thanked the fault line that was under our feet.
