Red Letter Chronicles Chpt .6

It was almost noon by the time we got to the shopping district in Seattle. As soon as we pulled up, Jaime spotted an ice cream shop. She squealed in delight and begged for us to get some ice cream. I was hesitant at first, but then she pulled off the pouty face I couldn't say no to. I pulled into the parking lot of the shop, sighing. I'm such a suck up, I swear. I thought. We walked into the shop and instantly, the cold air made me shiver. The walls were painted a baby blue, and the tiles were an off white. In the right hand corner by the windows was a booth seat, which was occupied by a group of chatting teenagers that were around my age. One of them, a blonde spikey haired boy, looked up from his conversation and at me. His eyes sparkled and he smiled at me, waving. The others looked my way and they all smiled as well and waved. I blushed slightly, smiled shyly, and waved back. They turned back around and continued with their conversation. I turned towards the counter and approached it, examining the variety of ice cream available. Jaime and I both ordered the chocolate chip cookie dough.
Like sister, like sister, right?
We were about to take a seat opposite of those teenagers, but the blonde haired boy waved me over. "Come sit with us!" he said enthusiastically, moving over for us to sit. I sat down and instictively Jaime sat on my lap. The blonde boy chuckled. "I haven't seen you around here before, are you new here?" he asked curiously. I nodded. "Yeah, I just got in today from Brooklyn. I moved."
"Oh really?" The boy said, raising his eyebrows. "What area do you live?"
"I don't know the area specifically, all I know is that the houses look like they're straight out of an IKEA magazine."
"Ah, so you live by the Cullens. That's cool. Do your parents live with you?"
"No, I live by myself."
"Wow, how'd you manage to get a house like that by yourself?"
"My good friend Micael. He comes from a very rich family, and he's paying for everything as long as I don't go over board."
"Oh, that's very considerate of him."
"Yeah, he's a good guy."
The burnette who sat next to him spoke up. "So are you guys, like....an item or something?"
"Oh no, he's eight years older than me."
"Oh, okay." she nodded.
The blonde boy spoke up again. "So what brings you here to Forks?"
I swallowed. Should I be honest, I thought, or should I lie?
"Family problems." I muttered.
"Ah, I see." he nodded. An awkward silence filled the air around us. Then the burnette spoke up, "Well, I'm Jessica." she motioned to the asian boy next to her. "This is Eric. He's the biggest geek you'll ever meet." she motioned to the girl with black hair and tan skin. "That's Angela," she said. "She's part of the school newspaper." Then lastly, she motioned to the blonde boy. "And that's Mike. He's a player." Mike blushed slightly. "Am not!" he said, throwing a crumpled up napkin at her. She deflected it, and it bounced back into his face. I laughed. "Well, I'm Roxy. This monkey right here," I said, putting my hand on Jaime's head, who was devouring her ice cream like a hungry wolf, "is Jaime. She's my baby sister." She faced me with a pouty face. "I am not a baby!" she pouted, finishing the rest of her ice cream. "What school are you going to?" Jessica asked. "Probably the one you go to." I said, "Forks High School."
"Yeah, that's where we go." Mike said with a smile.
"So who are the Cullens?" I asked. That name sounded familiar, I think I had heard it somewhere before. "They're this ultra rich, ultra beautiful family that goes to our school." Eric said. "They're all adopted and are dating each other. For example; Alice is with Jasper, Rosalie is with Emett, and Edward...isn't with anybody at the moment." He shrugged. "Aw, poor guy. I bet he feels left out." I said sympathetically. I know that feeling, I haven't dated anyone for longer than a month. All they wanted was to get in my pants, really. It had been a couple years since I last dated someone, about two or three. I had finished my ice cream and eaten the cone. Soon, we struck up conversation easily, talking about pretty much anything they brought up. Time passed by quickly, and before we knew it it was two. I checked my phone for the time and said, "Le gasp! It's time for us to go shopping. I hope you guys don't mind."
"No it's fine, we need to get going anway." Angela said. Eric looked at her in surprise. "We do?" he said. She turned towards him. "Yeah, we have that movie we're going to see, remember?"
"Oh yeah, I completely forgot!" Mike said, leaning back in his seat. Jaime got up off of my lap. As I stood up I said, "It was nice meeting you guys, I'll see you at school tomorrow."
"Later, homegirl." Eric said.
"See ya." Angela and Jessica said simultaniously.
"See you tomorrow, Brooklyn." Erik said with a wink. I smiled at them and grabbed Jaime by the hand, who was mesmerized by the pinball machine.
I swear, every little thing will captivate her.
I pulled the car keys out as we walked out the door and hit the unlock button on the car key. We got in the car, Jaime was rambling on about something involving an arcade being in the neighborhood. I put the key in the ignition and turned it, the engine roaring to life. We pulled out of the parking lot and headed towards the shopping center, which was only a few blocks away. It feels nice to meet so many nice and considerate people here. I'm starting to like this place already.
