Chapter 1: The Beginning
On what seemed like a normal day on earth, I, 16-year-old Deimon Akoire, sat at home, doing my homework while making dinner. My 13 year old sister would be arriving for a visit soon, and I still had homework to do. My stepfather was a p***k, took my sister from me, and refused to help me with any financial or academic trouble. Naturally, life was hard. In the middle of a thought, the whiny doorbell of my lonesome apartment rang, startling me. I opened the door, only to get knocked down by my sister.
“Onii-chan! I’ve missed you so much! Dad’s been a real pain in the a**! Not letting me visit you!” My sister, Zalika Amick, glomped me, nearly suffocating me, her reddish-brown hair covering my eyes.
When she realized it, she got off and apologized.
“Sorry big bro! I just haven’t seen you in so long!” she hugged me. I smiled, hugged her, and quickly released her. “Well dinner’s almost ready. Do you have any homework you need help with?” I asked her, my blue eyes brightened. She nodded rapidly and shuffled through her bag until she found her math.
“I’m not quite sure how to do this! Could you please help me?” she asked endearingly, batting her green eyes.
“Sure!” I chuckled and sat down, pointing to the chair next to me. Zalika literally hopped into her chair. “Thank you so much Dei-niichan!” I looked it over, combing my own darker, brown hair, and started.
“Well first of all…”
Now to our other character. “Damn it…” she said in her language. Xareshi Gantz was the closest pronunciation in
the human world for her name. Even that doesn’t sound normal in the least. She was being chased down by secret government officials for a certain thing she had done. For now, she could out-fly them, but there would be consequences. She’d have to crash land on the nearest life-filled planet. As much as she hated Earth, it was her key to freedom. So why not just take it and be happy? That’s what she thought. Xareshi thought she’d lost them, but when she expected it the least, a ship came out of nowhere and shot her down. “s**t!” she said in her kinds language. “you won’t escape!” something said. “Oh hell yes I will!” She pulled her emergency control out and banked it towards nothingness, appearing to fall.
“We lost her!”
“I think she’s gone…”
“So long as we can return now…”
“I think the king will be pleased.”
“Yes.”
“Down with Disney! All hail 4kids!”
“Indeed.”
Well… That was a bit tedious… At the last moment, she jerked her plane to the far left and crashed down into the Earth’s atmosphere.
My sister and I coincidentally decided to eat outside. It was hot, so my baggy jeans weren’t helping me in the least. I sighed and continued to converse with my sister.
“So how are things at home?”
“Very fun! But I still miss you… And mom’s still upset…” Zali recapped. That set Dei off.
“If she were really sorry, she’d see through that sorry excuse of a man and dump him! That selfish p***k!” I realized Zalika was looking down, tightly grasping her shorts.
“Ah… Oh… Look Zali… I’m sorry-”
“Sorry doesn’t cut it for anything! Mother just stood there and let you get kicked out! She says she’s sorry! Yet she’s not doing anything about your current situation! And dad! He says ‘I’m sorry angel but he just can’t live here!’ He’s not sorry at all! He’s not even trying! He never did! You did! Why can’t he?!”
“And you! You go insulting them both! I know they left you without any help but you could try letting it go just a little! You never think about me! Think about how this all affects me!” she broke down and started sobbing. “I’m so sorry Dei! It’s just so stressful! I really want to live with you! But I really just want us all to live together happily!”
“… Zali…” I got up, went over to her and hugged her.
“I really am sorry. But John isn’t the kind of person I’d ever get along with. He’s the kind of person who if he were a highschooler, he’d try to crush us. He’s mean and cruel to others that don’t matter to him at all.”
I looked into the distance.
“I hate his shitty guts. Oh crap! You didn’t hear that!” I realized I cussed in front of my little sister.
“What?” Zali sniffled and cocked her head.
“Nothing!” A few seconds later, we were interrupted by a huge crash. It didn’t sound too far away and it caused a lot of commotion.
“s**t… I think that might have been close by!” I exclaimed. “Luckily it wasn’t any closer!” Zali optimized.
We both nodded. “Zali, stay here. I’m going to go check it out.” “No! I want to come too!” “No! I might be dangerous!” “Dei either way I’m coming! I will sneak out behind you!” I pinched the bridge of my nose and gave in. “Fine… But we better hurry.” I agreed. We hurried to where the smoke came from. We took my motorcycle (without card games) and my side car. Luckily, we were the first ones there. Everyone else had been too scared. When we got closer, something sparkled. It looked like… glass! We got a little closer and I saw something move. I put my arm out in front of Zali and said “Stop. Please, Zali, wait here. I’ll be right back. It’s too dangerous for you.”
“W-why? What’s wrong?” she asked alarmed. “We’ll see…” I jumped into the crater, which was deep enough to be a decent distance from the object. It looked like a small space craft, otherwise known as a UFO, like from a video game. Luckily, there was a broken part if the ship to hide behind. After a few minutes, nothing moved. Maybe what I saw was merely a part breaking? “Zali can you please hand me one of the flashlights?” “Sure Onii-chan!” Zali threw me a flashlight.
I turned it on and showed it around. I lifted up the cover to the cockpit and looked inside. There was a girl who looked about my age, unconscious. “Hey! Are you okay?” I asked. No reply. “She’s out cold… Zali!” “yes Onii-chan?” “I found something… Actually someone.” Where there was more light, I could take in her features better. She had silvery blonde hair, tanish skin, and somewhat sharp features. She looked pretty human so far. From my perspective, she was kind of pretty. Now don’t get the wrong idea, if you’re thinking something, you perv. Zali and I walked back to my bike and set the girl in my side car, and Zali rode behind me. She wondered what happened to this girl, and how she got such a cool ship. I didn’t seem to her like it was from Earth, or from the US. It could be Japanese though. If that was so, then the girl probably wouldn’t speak English. She thought so small…

When we got back to my apartment, I carried the girl into it and set her down in a bed in an extra bedroom I had. The apartment I got was ideal for a married couple with two kids, so he had three bedrooms. My friends occasionally need to crash at my place due to parent troubles or other problems, so I let them in freely.
The other room was for my sister.
“Zali, I’m going to stay in here for a bit, incase she wakes up. I know it might be really tedious, but could you please clean up from dinner outside?” I asked my sister. “Sure…” she replied. I said it. It was really tedious for her, but she didn’t mind, because she was helping me, apparently.
I felt her skin, and it was warm, so this girl couldn’t be dead. Unless it was the opposite for her kind. But I really hoped she wasn’t dead. I helped Zali with her homework and had dessert in the room. I didn’t want to leave her unattended when she woke up.

The last thing Xareshi remembered was seeing lots of blue, white, and green rushing at her and then blackness. She remembered feeling something sharp and searing, and then everything went black. When she finally came to, she heard voices. At first they were fuzzy and unclear, but eventually, they became clear. Her sight was fuzzy, too, and everything was swerving until it all come into place. The ceiling was cream colored, and when she looked sideways, the wall was a pale pink. She heard a voice clearly, and she could understand English. “-Zali! Your waffle’s burning! I got to go check on her!” a male voice. Her? Meaning me? “Just a minute Onii-chan! I just got to beat this last battle!” a slightly high-pitched female voice.
She put her head back down and stared at the ceiling some more. ‘Where am I…? How’d I get here…?’ she wondered to herself. Just then, the guy she must have heard came in. She turned her head slowly towards him. He looked fairly cute, at least compared to a few humans she had seen. He had light brown hair, and bright green eyes. His soul must be light.
“Oh you’re awake!” he said.
۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞
Now that she was awake, I had to take care of her, and she had to keep low. But what lies ahead for both of us is anything but what we could expect. Now the real story begins.
۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞ ۞
We stared at each other for a few minutes, taking it in. Xareshi had blue eyes that weren’t bright, but weren’t dark. “Onii-chan! Is she u- Yup! She definitely is…” Zali said. Still staring at each other, we didn’t speak.
“Are you two going to talk or are you just gonna stare at each other all day?” she said. “Oh! Umm… No… I don’t think so…” I said. “Uh do, do you umm…?” “Xareshi Gantz. Call me Xaré.” she said. “Umm… Right! I’m Deimon-” “Akoire, right?” Xaré said. “Yeah! But how’d you know?” I asked. “I don’t know… It just came to me so I said it out loud!”
Xaré remembered the girl, Zali. But of course, she didn’t know her name. “So who are you?” she asked abruptly. “I’m Zalika Amick, his sister.” “Ah. Wait why do you have different last names?” Xaré asked, very confused. “Well… Our dad died a few years ago and my mom got re-married. Zali’s last name got legally changed when my mom’s was. But I refused to accept the last name. My step dad and I never got along. So he kicked me out and I moved out. I got this place, and I run my own life.” I explained. “My mother just stood by, watching me get kicked out.”
“Oh…” Xaré smiled weakly. “Sounds kind of like my current situation…” She attempted to get out of bed, but lost her balance and fell, but luckily, I caught her. “Careful there! Don’t want you to hurt yourself.” I said. “Heh… Sorry.” she said smartly. I helped her to a sofa, and she looked somewhat unsure about it. “Don’t worry. It won’t explode on you or anything.” I assured her. She nodded and sat. “Do you want anything to eat or drink?” Zali asked. “Are those ‘waffles’ any good?” Xaré asked. “Any good?! They’re the best! Next to bacon.” “Then could I get one of those, please?” she asked politely. “Sure!” And Zali ran off to make her a waffle. When she was put of hearing range, Xaré took the smile faded. So, it must be hard, living like this.” She looked around from her spot. “But I got to admit, this place is pretty nice!” “Thanks… It’s the best I could muster with my job. I guess it’s for the best that Zali doesn’t live with me.” I took the seat at the opposite end of the couch. She looked at me sympathetically. She put her hand out in front of me like a stop signal and closed her eyes.
A few seconds later, she re-opened them and looked down. “Oh… Wow your soul is in slight depression and your heart is closed up a little.” She looked at me confused. “Yet, you’re still warm and kind to others.” She put her hand down. “Wow. That’s amazing. But how…?” she asked. I pointed to the kitchen. “She helps keep me sane. If anything happened to her…” “I understand.” Xaré lightened up. “Yay! Here come my waffles! Thank you so much Zali!” “No problem at all.” I turned on the TV and flipped through the channels.
“Oooh! Leave it on the cartoon channel! My favorite show should be on!” Zali exclaimed. “Kay.” I left it on and looked up at the ceiling, hands behind my head. Since Zali would only be here until tomorrow, Sunday, night, I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. I somehow ended up in the middle of the couch. How it happened, I have no clue. I guess since Zali wanted to watch her cartoons, she would be closest to the TV. It’s positioned so that when you’re lying down on the couch, you can see the TV.
Sorry if I completely ruined your image of my house, but it’s a very weird layout. Maybe the author will draw one if she feels like it. Anyway, Xaré was bored, as was I, so she told me so. “Dei, I’m bored. What’s there to drink around here?” she asked. “Yeah. There’s water, juice, soda, milk, and some other stuff.” I told her. “… What’s ‘soda’?” she asked, confused. Zali and I stared at her in amazement. “You’re kidding right?!” Zali asked alarmed. Xaré shook her head. “It’s the most unhealthy and delicious drink ever! It comes in all sorts of awesome flavors!” Zali explained. “Grape, orange, cola, lemon lime, normal lime, juice, berry, and other odd flavors. We have grape, orange, berry, and cola. But there’s a soda machine downstairs.” I told her. “… Could I try grape please?” Xaré asked.
I nodded and got her some. “Wait, do you want ice?” I asked. “Sure…?” she replied, unsure. After I got it, I gave it to her. She took a sip, swallowed, and stared wide-eyed. “Holy shiz! This stuff is awesome! It’s all fizzy and stuff! Though I got to say it doesn’t taste like grape.” she commented. “Its artificial flavoring.” Xaré was clueless. “Not natural or real.” Zali explained.
After a while of drinking soda, Zali and Xaré got sugar highs. I stayed sober and took care of them. I carried Zali over to her room and put a blanket on Xaré. She stretched in her sleep, although I thought she was waking up, rolled over, and curled up. I shook my head and went to sleep myself. The next morning, when I went out to the TV room, I smelled something burning. Xaré wasn’t on the couch or in her room, so she must’ve been causing trouble. “Crap! How do I flip this?!” she yelled. I face-palmed myself and went over to the kitchen. I pushed her aside, got my spatula, and got the half-burned waffle out of the waffle iron.
“W-what?! How do you work this thing?!” Xaré shouted. “Well I’m confused on how you got the batter.” I said, crossing my arms and tapping my foot. She pointed to the fridge. “There was a container labeled ‘waffle batter’ in the fridge. So I assumed since waffle was in the title, I could use it. But I never thought making a waffle would be this hard!” she explained. I face-palmed myself again. “Please refrain from ruining my kitchen or waffle iron.” I poured more waffle batter into the waffle iron and made Xaré another waffle while I munched on the burnt one.
It’s only half burned. “Sorry Dei, apparently I’m no good at making a simple waffle. Could you cook for me from now on? Please?” She gave me a ‘I’m trying to be cute!’ look. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. “You’re hopeless. So I guess I’ll have to huh?” “Oh thank you so much Dei! I promise as soon as I can, I’ll pay you back for everything.” She tried to look at me seriously, but I ended up laughing.
Shortly after, Zali woke up and came into the TV room. “Mornin’ guys…” she said tiredly. “Morning!” Xaré said excitedly. “Mornin’ Zali.” was my greeting. “Want anything for breakfast?” “
Sure… please?”
“Waffle?”
“Yes please…”
“Can I have another?” Xaré asked. I nodded and got cracking on the waffles. “Can I have some soda?” Xaré asked.
“Not in the morning! It’ll make your stomach feel bad.” I explained.
“Yeah, at least if you’re us.” Zali joined in.
“… I doubt it. Please?”
“Suit yourself.” I threw her a can of grape soda.
“Thanks!” Xaré opened her can and gulped it down. Surely enough, shortly after breakfast, we were right. “Oh… my stomach doesn’t feel good.” Xaré complained.
“We told you.” Zali and I said at the same time.
So for a bit, Xaré was laying on one couch, and we were on the other. And in the mean time, the two of us played video games and had fun! Soon, it became time for Zali to leave. The doorbell rang and Zali went and got her things. Xaré followed me to the door and peered over my shoulder.
Both my mother and stepfather were at the door. I glared disappointedly with a curious Xaré on my shoulder. “Who’re they?” she asked.
“That’s out mother,” I pointed to my mom. “and that’s our son of a b***h stepfather.” I whispered.
“Oh! I heard about you from them!” she pushed me back.
“Wah!” I lost my balance and almost fell. “Crap! You baka!” I lightly bumped the top of her head with my fist. A description of my parents isn’t important, you won’t be seeing them much. My mother was staring at her, her eyebrow cocked. My stepfather was doing the same thing, but he showed more surprise.
He must think the wrong thing. “She’s a friend who had to stay the night-” I was interrupted by an excited Xaré. “Hi! I’m Xaréshi Gantz! Your children can make some awesome waffles!”
I could still slightly smell the burn from earlier. I hit my head on the nearest wall. “Um, honey, are you alright?” my mom asked. “Yeah. She really sucks at making a simple waffle. I woke up to a burning one.” They were clearly confused, so I waved it away.
Zali finally got to the entrance and slipped out. “Bye Onii-chan! Bye Xaré!” she bid farewell.
“See you later.”
“It was nice meeting you!” Xaré exclaim. Zali nodded. And then they left.
“Well, what should we do now?” I asked.
“…When will she be back?” Xaré asked.
“Whenever the hell she’s allowed to come back.”
“Oh…” She looked down and smiled meekly. “I forgot about that. It sounds kind of like my home. Will you listen?” She looked at me hopefully.
“Of course. It sounds interesting.”
Chapter 2: Her Story
We went and sat on a couch. “There are 5 lords and 2 ladies in my world. The lords or water, fire, nature, ice, and dark and the ladies of light and sky. My father is the Lord of Ice and my mother is the Lady of Sky.”
“My mother is married and so is my father, but they… had an affair and the results was me. When my stepmother found out, she wouldn’t let my father keep me. But my mother had enough children to deal with. So my father secretly took me in and taught me the ways of the Ice Kingdom.” She put her hair over her shoulder and slid her hand down it. The silver and my eye color are from my father.” “
My hair color and rest of me is my mother. I grew up with in the walls of the royal family, but not in the castle. I was raised by my oldest sister. My mother was always watching over me and lent me her powers. She even visited me. When I was 8, my father took me into the castle and taught me things. He even convinced my stepmother to let me stay in the castle. I met all my siblings, and became closest to my youngest brother and my sister who’s 2 years older than me.”
“Jaden, my brother, was only 4 when I met him. We almost instantly became best friends. He was so adorable and small! My mother sent over a sibling from her side to teach me. At first, she looked mean and bitchy,” She paused and smiled. “and kind of was. But once I got to know her, she was really nice. I learned a lot from her. But now back to Jaden! One day, I was taking a walk in the royal yard, and he was playing with some of the other kids.
Or so I thought. So I decided to come over to see what they were playing. At first, it seemed they were playing boy games, playing rough, but I suddenly got the feeling they weren’t playing. Jaden was in a fight, mind you he was 5, and he was losing. I ran and jumped on top of the other kid, who was a year younger than me, and landed on his spine. He was being laughed at and that got him started. Okay long fight scene short, I beat that p***y to a pulp and told him off for messing with my brother. ’Thank you Xareshi.’ ’What the hell happened?!’ or something like that. ’What was the fight about?!’ And Jaden explained the whole thing. It was a whole thing about how rich kids are snobs or something. I forget. My father always kind of favored me.”
“But now up to date, war broke out between every kingdom. Even between the Sky and Ice kingdoms. My stepparents are out to destroy me because I’m both. My parents sent me off in an escape ship along with all of my sibling. But my stepparents sent special government after me and they shot me down, thinking I was killed. So until I’m sure I can go back,” She looked sad and desperate.
“I’m begging you, can I please stay here?” Well I couldn’t make her leave or go somewhere else. Gah, I’m a sucker. “… I guess I have to.” “Oh thank you so much Dei! I’ll pay you back sometime!” She hugged me tightly, and let go. “Hey I’m a better person than most. And your welcome.”
The next few days went like this. I realized she only had the two outfits she owned and kept washing. I noticed that and took her shopping, though it was extremely awkward. I spent my months videogame money on her clothes. Each day, I noticed something about her, something that definitely wasn’t there before. I couldn’t put my finger on it until one day, she said something.
“Hey Dei! Make me a waffle would you?” she demanded. She usually asks, not demands. And I’m starting to feel like she isn’t telling me the whole truth, like she’s using me. “Wash my clothes, would you?” and she would throw her bras and underwear in my face, which made me go red in embarrassment and rage.
She’s become a lot more demanding and I think I finally put my finger on it. She’s… a b***h! Damn it! She f****n used me! That b***h! Now I know what she meant in her story about her sister. Wow.
One morning when I woke up and came out of my room, I had another bra thrown in my face. “Yo make me a waffle! And before that, take that off your face.” Xaré laughed and plopped herself onto a couch. “No. You can do it yourself. I angrily stormed back into my room to get changed. “But what about me ruining your kitchen?” she yelled. “I don’t care!” I headed towards the door. “Where you going?!” she yelled, alarmed. “Work! I have to pay for your crap somehow.” “Fine! Just be back in time for lunch!” “Don’t count on it.” “You better be!” “I won’t.” And the rest was history.
Chapter 3: And My Life Sucks Now
Wow I would never have guessed she could be this much of a b***h. If I had known, I wouldn’t have let her stay at my place! But wait! That’s just it! She acted all innocent and understanding because she knew if I thought she was a total b***h, I wouldn’t have felt so sorry for her and let her stay! She probably even made up her whole story! Except for the part where she’s from a different planet. She proved that. I really hate her right now, but I guess for now, I’ll have to deal with her.
I trudged out of bed to make breakfast, as it’s the weekend. And her royal pain in my a** gets royally pissed when I don’t make breakfast. Especially on Saturdays. Her favorite’s waffles, and every time Zali’s over they’re best friends and I’m their waffle-making slave. “don’t be so quick to judge, or judgmental, or prestigious, or whatever you are!” she told me and patted my head annoyingly. “Besides! You already let me in. So it’s not like you could kick me out!” “Oh yeah? I’m not so sure about that.” I cocked my eyebrow at her. “Yup! Because no matter what, I’m not going to leave!” she glowered at the ceiling. “Besides that, I wouldn’t have anywhere to go. My ship’s broken and I would be killed if I went back to my planet now.”
I’ll admit, I kinda feel bad for her, but I could see why her father wouldn’t want her back. She’s obnoxious, bitchy, and pushy. I’m most definitely stuck with her for a while… So I’d better make the best of it. I tried so hard to not let her annoy me or set me off, but it just wasn’t happening. I can’t even have my friends over without them or her blowing my fuse. “Hey! You finally got a girlfriend!” or “Nice! You hit the jackpot with her!” or “You rascal you!” and other annoying comments from my friends.
“I already told you she’s not my girlfriend! She’s just like you guys when you need to crash here except she needs to stay here a little longer.” But they needed a lot of convincing. Even Xaré wouldn’t leave me alone! “Heh heh! I sure am!” getting all close to me and all that crap. “We’re so happy! I just love him sooo much! Isn’t that right Dei-kun?” she would say. And I would reply with “What a load of s**t that is.” and push her away from me. And my friends would laugh, and they never took it seriously anyway, they just like to annoy me. It gets to the point that I kick them out or leave the room.
Or Both would happen. “Oh come on Dei! Learn to have some fun! Come out!” Xaré said. I locked the door, so she couldn’t make me herself. “No. Go away, I’m really not in the mood.” I growled. She sat outside my door and said “I won’t move ‘til you come out.” “Don’t care, I’m still not coming out.” I yelled
