• The explosion was gigantic.

It all happened very slowly, it seemed. We had leaned in, kissed, just like in the movies. He had seemed so happy. Then I felt the tingling on my lips. Traces of flame flickered from my mouth. My whole body seemed to suddenly catch fire, and our lips slid apart as he began to slide backwards. His eyes were clenched shut, and they opened slowly, flickered, and I saw sadness. Then they closed again and the world turned red.

    "Gage!"

I rushed over to his crumpled body, completely ignoring the singed grass that crunched beneath my melted shoes. "Oh god, Gage no!" He was lying face down, the edges of his coat were burned. I rolled him over, tears steaming down my face. His eyes were still shut, and his body was covered in soot. I leaned down carefully, listened for his heartbeat. Silence. Slowly, I looked at his ashen face, and brushed of some soot with my hands. Then, lifting his head to mine, I kissed him, my final goodbye.

"ANGELA!!!" I screamed as he bolted upright, his eyes flashing. He took a gargled breath in, then leaned over and threw up. He coughed and heaved for a minute more, and I simply sat on the grass, staring.

"You saved me." He managed to whisper.
"No, I nearly killed you!!!" I screamed. "You don't get it, I'm not some girl you can just kiss and fall in love with!! I'm the girl you can kiss and be burned to death!!!" I broke into hysterics, the hard cold truth sending me over the edge. I sobbed and sobbed, and when his arm placed itself on my shoulder, I shrugged it off. "We can never be together. Never." I couldn't look him in the eye, so I stared at the horrible burnt-smelling grass.
"Danmit, I won't give up on you, Angela!" He looked hard at me. "We can over come this! We CAN be together!!!"
"Go home, Gage." I whispered. He didn't move, so I kicked him in the stomach, and watched as he fell into a ball. "Go HOME!!!" I cried. Then I sprinted into my house, up to my room, and cried until I was out of tears.

All the other girls had always fallen over him.
They were so pretty and popular that he couldn't resist dating them. And I had watched, hurt and alone, as he went through life getting who ever he wanted. And I got no one. Nothing. Now as I sat in the darkness of my room, I turned on my cell phone and scrolled through my contacts to the G's. Gabriel, Glenda, Gretchen, Hannah. No, he wasn't there. Good, if he had been, I wouldn't have been able to resist the chance to call him, so I was safe. Then the phone rang. It was an unknown number. I set it down, letting it ring and ring. right before the last ring, I snatched it up and flipped it open. "Hello?" I whispered.
"Angela, there is a way to cancel out your powers for a short period of time." I gasped. "I did my research." there was a pause. "Meet me at the park. Now." He hung up.

It was dark, and I couldn't see him anywhere. Suddenly, he appeared from behind a bench and walked over, clutching a box to his chest. "This is what I was talking about." He opened the lid to reveal a small necklace with a blue stone set in the center. He slowly lowered it over my head and placed it on my neck. The whole time I didn't protest, because I wanted it to work so badly. "Now," he said softly, a strange look coming into eyes. "let's test it." He kissed me.

    Nothing happened.

He kissed me harder, and harder, and I kissed back. We moved over to the park bench, where I sat on top of him, clutching his coat collar, kissing him passionately. Suddenly, I felt his hand slid the edge of my jacket down. I let him tear the rest of it off, then removed his as well. He slid his hand under my shirt, and I gasped.

    It was a long night.
