Her feet hit the ground before her mind could think of what came next. She was already, instinctively, running for shelter away from the thing chasing her. The only thing make noise was her breath, panting from the long run that had been going on since this morning when she woke up to an ungodly creatures cry. Ever since then, Kaitlin Roberts hasn't been able to stop moving, that would be a certain death.
Almost there! Keep going Kat! Almost... there! Kaitlin mentally encouraged herself, making a quick turn for the lake. If she could get the demon to the lake, and be able to open the portal, it'd be sent immediately to The Banishment. Where all demons are captured and locked up until their deaths from both worlds, and the hunters of ranks from three to five hundred thousand watch over them until death due them part.
The only problem was this demon was higher ranked than Kat, and wanted to grow stronger.
    It wanted her soul.
"Kaitlin! Where are you!?" A voice sliced away the terrible silence, and Kat gave a sigh of relief. Her best friend, Skylar, had noticed her warning. As for Ryan or her mentor, Janice, they both seemed to be fast asleep. Or too lazy to check up.
"Almost.. to.. the lake!" She called into the communicator, which was the slick watch on her wrist. It wasn't just a watch, it was the watch. Every soul hunter had one, amateur or pro. It collected soul tokens, points, ranking information, a teleportation device to the Soul Community and The Banishment. But the big thing it did, besides communicating to other soul hunters with it, was it collected demon souls. If Kaitlin was strong enough to capture this unholy creature, she could suck it into the watch to immediate death. But it was too strong, too powerful.. she stood no chance. This is was an emergency, for The Banishment to take care of.
"Coming close, make a jump for it and I'll open the portal!" Sky promised, her own panting able to be heard through the device.
    "What about me!?"
"You can swim! I saw you in PE!"
A pause to groan. "I meant.... the heights! I ...hate heights!" Kaitlin grimaced as soon as she complained, she really shouldn't. It showed she was weak, and not to mention she was practically just shouting it over to the demon which was ... Where was it?
Kat turned to look over her shoulder, expecting to see the man with razor teeth and fully red eyes. But instead, there was nothing. No poison falling from its mouth, or claws stringing out to capture it. Did it run away...?
"Come out, you big and ugly!" Kaitlin challenged, though she knew she shouldn't. Couldn't. But she had to. No soul hunter should ever let a demon escape. It brought more destruction, and deaths, to citizens.
Instead of getting a reply from the creature though, she got one from Skylar.
    "s**t!"
A pause, Kat could hear the whistle of what only could be Sky's bow and arrows. She glanced around, wondering where it came from. It sounded like it was everywhere... It must be a illusionist! Yes, that would make sense. The demon could confuse its prey, it would explain with its disappearance, since her watch had not detected it yet.
"Yo! Kaitlin! Help a girl out will ya!?"
Oh right. The illusionist demon was distracting her.
    Not any longer!
Her hand fell onto the key chain on her belt loop, which was a sword. When it made contact, she closed her eyes, envisioning her soul hunting abilities to open up. Her senses to focus.. her agility to increase. It was harder for an amateur to do, but soon a sound of a blade caused her eyes to open. In her hands was no longer a key chain, but a real, long sword with razors pointing out to capture skin. At each blade was a stain of red, from the blood already captured into it when she had begun her training. As for her outfit, Kat was now transformed into a slick, powerful armor that looked like a body suit but was harder to break than a boulder. Now invisible to the naked human eye, she begun to head off to where Skylar was, and finish this demon once and for all.
